Hi Just a little tip for airtravel..I started to fly with my daughter when she was 8 weeks. I found that if you give a bottle or passie when taking off and landing helps. She has never had a problem and we have been flying for 2 1/2 years. Good Luck...by the way the sell bottled water in PR.

Hello M. A, my name is K. and I live in PR. I think u should talk to your peditrician if there is anything available for her (ear) as far as water u should buy bottled water. The water in PR is not safe to drink. Enjoy your stay in PR.

All you need to do is when the plan is going up and coming down is to have the baby sucking or drinking something. If the baby is sleeping it is even better. That what I did with my son. He has been traveling since he was 3months.

When the plane starts taking off--either breastfeed her or give her the bottle (milk or water) because it takes the pressure off the ear. In addition, I took my son to DR several times when he was little. As long as you boil the water there, you should be ok. For starters though, take some bottled water with you the first few days. Buy bottled water there and boil it--keep some room temperature and in the fridge.

try a pacifier if she uses one. i have heard it allows their ears to pop on planes. if she dont use one, a bottle or sippy cup should work. just make sure its empty when you go through or they might not let it on plane.

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and we just came back from a trip. She is at the age that you cant make them drink unless they want to. The most painful time is on the landing. Take off is not too bad. I gave my daughter over the counter cold medicine. That was just in case she had any congestion which could possibly congest the ears. If nothing else it made her a little sleepy and she slept through the flight. If you don't want to take that route, if your child still takes a bottle by the summer, bring an empty bottle on board and get something to drink in the airport to put into the bottle. Get your child to drink it during take off and landing.

Hi M.,

Let her drink from her bottle during take off and when the plane is descending. It helps keep the ears from clogging - Works like a charm for my girls. Also, we took my oldest daughter to PR when she was 9 months and gave her bottled water but only because that's what I use when we are home.

I've heard that it's good to breastfeed/bottle feed the baby, or give them a pacifier b/c that sucking motion can help reduce ear popping. You might want to bring water for her, her tummy might be a little sensitive to foreign water... good luck and have a fun and safe trip!

When i went on a plane for the first time with my daughter i ought her some milk and gave it to her at take off and landing. The sucking on the cup helped her ears. A pacifier also might help. Then again your daughter could be fine. i would also ask your pediatrician for some suggestions as well.

I travel on long trips regularly with my daughters and the younger one (now 8 years old) sometimes experience severe ear pain because of the change in air pressure on the plane. I tried giving her water, candy, or chewing gum to ease the pressure but sometimes they simply didn't work. One time, out of desperation, my husband covered both of her ears with his hands and she quieted down. Now, she reaches for our hands to put on her ears when she experiences discomfort.

Hi -
Yes, try and cover her ears with either cotton balls or you can go to like a pharmacy store and look for the ear plugs made out of wax. I am not sure how you feel about this but you can also give her one dosage of infant tylenol a 1/2 hr before the flight. Best thing would be to consult with your pediatrician. I've done all of the above.
Yes, buy like at least a gallon of water and carry it with you. Then buy some bottled water over in P.R.
(check with the airport guidelines). They have some new rules on what you can or can't carry on the airplane. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful vacation trip.
