Dear Moms,
I plan to travel to Europe to visit Grandma with my husband and 2 little boys - #1 is 2 years old in 2 weeks,#2 is 4 months. What kind of stroller do you recommend for air travel?
All inputs/shared experience are very much appreciated.
I would prefer a double, lightweight stroller that we can fold easy and keep on the plane,is there something like that?

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
I don't know if you have picked something yet, but we did some research and went to Italy last year for 3 1/2 weeks. We only have one boy, he was 10 months at the time. We bought the Silver Cross Micro stroller from http://www.silvercrossamerica.com/micro_stroller.php. It is super light weight, folds down with one hand while you're holding your child in the other, has a strap for over your shoulder, and the wheels swivel and it goes over bumps and curbs like a pro. We visited 7 cities in 2 1/2 weeks, carrying everything on the train and this traveled very well. Our son slept in it too, although the one drawback was that it didn't recline. Happy searching.

We were in Germany for a month this past Christmas and we took a McLaren. They are light weight and easy to fold. We took this stroller all the way to the gate and then gate checked it. It worked like a charm.

Good luck!

I recently traveled to South America with my 2 boys. I would highly recomend you take 2 strollers: one that can carry your infant seat (if you bought him a seat as opposed to traveling on your lap - which I also HIGHLY recomend. You have no idea how long that flight is until you have a baby on your lap.) and second, very lightweight stroller for your 2 year old. You will want the stollers in the airport and they check them for you as you board the plane for that reason, at no extra charge. Plus, with a stroller that carries your infant seat, you have the basket below for the diaper bag. Take as little as you can get away with. I found that I packed too much stuff and he didn't play with most of it. Food however was important to take since they don't give much toddler friendly food on the plane. The do have pleanty of juice and milk so just take cups. Good luck! BTW: I have a Graco DuoGlide Tandum stroller and really like it - just not for airplanes.

I quite like the look of the Caboose stroller. I see a lot of people with two kids using them and this is what I plan to get if/when we have a second. I've done a lot of air travel with my son from the time he was three months old and this is the kind of thing I'd definitely take. You can't take a stroller on the plane, by the way, but you can take it right up to the doorway of the plane and leave it there and the airline will put it in the hold for you and it will be waiting for you when you get to the other end right outside the door again as you get off the plane. Here's a link for it: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=226761...

Take the stroller you use every day, it is free check in and you can use it right to the airplane door and you will find it there when you leave the plain. Plus you are going to need it in Europe too. You can also use your car sit in the plain, actually is recommended to use it. Your 2 year old will be much more comfortable in his car sit, especially if he likes it. I do travel with my son to Europe every summer since he was 6 months old. And we do go to grand-ma's from Seattle to Florida every Christmas. Let me know if you need more advices.

Hi - This will be the third trip on a plane with two boys, ages 14 months and 4 and we are only bringing our one jogger stroller. They will let you wheel strollers up to the door of the plane, and then you check it like baggage. They put it under the airplane. They get it for you when you land so that it is waiting for you at the door when you de-plane so you can use it right away.
I think something like a Graco dual-glider might be a good one. I think they are pretty lightweight, or the Maclarens. It depends if you want it side by side double or one sitting in front of the other type, which I think I have heard can be kind of cumbersome. So really think about what you are going to be doing during the vacation as well.
