I have a very mature 11 year old daughter who wants to know when she can start shaving her legs. I don't remember when I started to shave my legs and I was brought up by my dad so I can't go back to my mom to ask. Her hairs are blond but I have to agree with her they are long. At what age is reasonable to let her start shaving her legs. Which process is better the razor or hair remover?

What can I do next?

I agree that if she is asking to shave her legs, then it is time. I, personally, would not recommend a hair remover because of all the toxins you absorb and breath in. They smell so strong and that can't be good.

I recommend an electric shaver. That's what my daughter started with and what I started with too. But if she really wants to start with a razor, get some disposables to start with that are designed for women and to get a smooth shave. I always shave in the shower, last thing I do. That way the hair on my legs is all wet and easy to shave.

I think if she's asking you about it she is ready. Unfortanately kids try to grow up so fast! I started shaving when I was about that age. And that was . . . 20 years ago. Kids mature earlier now too.

We just went through this a few weeks ago. My oldest is 11 and in sixth grade. Her school started at the end of July. One of her electives is healthful living, which requires PE type stuff. The hair on her legs is (was) long and starting to look darker. I don't know if other kids would notice or comment about it. But, my daugther asked about shaving. I purchased one of the more expensive disposable razors- the kind with the wax surrounding the blades. We talked about the proper way to use it, store it, etc.

Things seem to be going well so far. If only all issues as a preteen could be solved this easily and peacefully.

Whatever you decide, I hope all goes well in your walk through puberty with your daughter.

I started in the 6th grade. I remember very well going to my mother and asking, How do you shave? I took her razor in front of her and ran it on my bare dry leg. It was just a little so no biggy, but best to teach her before curiosity makes her try on her own. I would go with the razor.
