Age 52 and Stopped BC, What to Do About Skin!

So I stopped taking the Pill about six months ago based on age and that I was beginning to have side-effects I didn't like. Now, I'm having regular periods along with monthly skin breakouts like a teenager! I thought at my age I'd be dealing with dry skin, not oily. I've used the Clinique 3-step system for many years with good results. I switched the products for the oily-skin version maybe five years ago, because of increased oiliness starting then. But, what has anyone else used for breakouts that's worked?

What can I do next?

I am a faithful Clinique user since about age 11. I use whatever product best fits my skin at the time. Right now I use the Repairwear series. I love it. I'm 50 and pass easily for mid 30's and have even been asked for I'd at my daughters high school.

That said... Clinique is not for everyone. Some ppl feel it is overrated, not me.... I see the difference and my 18 yr old has been a faithful user as well. Price wise it's not that expensive if you look at the big picture. Yes I pay $60 for a tub of cream but it lasts a good 6 months +!so really??

It's also dermatologist recommended.

In your case, since you've made hormonal changes, I'd see my dr and dermatologist to look at options that best fit your need.

Purpose and cetaphil are 2 products many dermatologists recommend as well.

Best wishes!

Your skin condition, most likely being from hormones, is an internal biological origin, so, anything topical that you use or put on it, will not "cure" it, until your body normalizes.
Or, it could be that you are simply going through normal biological age related hormonal shifts. Hence the breakouts.
Try seeing your Doctor or Dermatologist.

The break outs are probably related to the fluctions in your hormones. Your body is still probably still adjusting with the changes after stopping the BC; it could also be menapause starting. Give it time.

I spot treat blemishes with Clean & Clear Persa Gel --awesome stuff.
Daily, I use the Clarsonic cleanser brush.
Or Aveeno face wash.
I've never liked the Clinique stuff. I think it's overrated.

I have monthly breakouts too no matter how much I clean my face. Recently I have not worn powders and makeup on my face except for eyeliner and lipstick and I did not break out so if you are wearing makeup, maybe let your face breath for a while. Other than that, I don't know. I use the Clinique program too but stopped because it's expensive and really didn't change the monthly breakouts. Recently I've also started lemon and brown sugar scrubs.. trying to go Pinterest natural remedies.
