Hi everyone,
My 13 mo old had his 1 yr vaccines last Thursday and initially appeared to be fine. No fever this time, nothing. Tonight i noticed a bump on his leg at the sight of one of the shots. i remember there was more blood on that bandaid than normal but not a ton.The bump is not visible but i can feel it and it feels big, like as if a part of the muscle is swollen. Really hard for me to get a good feel because it obviously hurts him alot, he started hollering and kicking. Is it just a result of him probably moving his leg while he was receiving the shot and there is a minor injury now? The weird thing is there is no discoloration. Does this warrant a dr phone call on Sat night?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all! I really appreciate it! I feel calmer now. II know if something were wrong he wouldn't be acting fine. I hate those **** vaccines anyway, was almost tempted to skip them altogether but then a doctor friend of mine convinced me that I was being overly cautious. So I researched a bit, at least I know more about what is in them (more importantly, what is not in them) and what the risks are. That is why I got scared. If his leg isnt better by Monday I will get the doc's opinion. And I will give him extra hugs, thanks for the excuse!

I would recommend going to thinktwice.com or childhoodshots.com I read some of the stories that parents shared about what happened with their children after being vaccinated. You should definitely check out those sites.

Yup, the bump is normal. My daughter got one once & it was warm to the touch. But, if it makes you feel better, call the doc. That's what they are there for. And, tylenol helps.

No, a bump is normal after a shot, even a couple of days later. Watch for fevers, give him some tylenol or motrin for the pain of the swollen area and see how he feels Monday. If he is still not feeling well or the bump gets worse, you can call the nurse hotline or set up an appt.
