I'd try Ikea. they have cute kids stuff and it's not that expensive.
Well, my 27mth old little girl gave me a heart attack today when during her nap, I hear a knock on her door, and painfully realize after I ruled out the unliklihood that a burlgar was in her room and would take the time to knock before entering the rest of the house that my kiddo had figured out how to get out of her crib. She did it not only once, but three times before by some miracle she actually fell asleep.
I was putting off the day when we would move to a "big girl's" bed as I liked that she was safe and sound in the crib. I have decided, unless you all can tell me that it was better to keep them in their crib by converting it to a toddler bed before moving to the big bid, to just move to a big bed.
With that said, my question is where do you find affordable daybed/bed and dresser? Appreciate your advice on thoughts with moving to a "big girl" bed and places to buy them. Thanks a bunch!!

Another option is to add a crib tent to her crib. I have a 26 month old who can get out of his crib; but since we have a new baby coming next month, I am not ready for him to be in a big boy bed so we are keeping him in his crib with the tent over it to keep him in. He doesn't seem to mind it, and it affords us peace of mind. You can get them at Babies R Us and Amazon.com.
IKEA has inexpensive furntiture and cute setups for kids. It's not the best quality, but it would do for a while.
Haverty's has the best quality furniture, but it is much more expensive than IKEA. This furniture will last a long time, so overtime, it's cheaper, as you won't have to keep replacing it.
You might also want to try Stacy's furniture in Allen. They have a store in there for kid's furniture. It might be a little cheaper than Haverty's, but the quality is comparable. We've purchased furniture there with no hassles and quick delivery.
Another option is USA Baby. They have a section specifically for kids (Kid's Space, I think). The furniture is good. I'm not sure of their prices.
Do NOT go to Ashley Furniture. Their prices are much cheaper than Haverty's. So is their furniture. Their delivery service is terrible (lots of nicks, never the right order, several months wait for some furniture). We even paid up front and they still started billing us a year later. Save yourself the headache.
I found my DS a bed at IKEA.
We found a nice bedroom set of furniture at Haverty's. Our daughter is 13 and she started crawling out of the crib at 17 mths. We put the box spring and mattress on the floor at first so she would be safer. The set has been a good one. It is sturdy and was not overly expensive. It has held up well and she will probably take it with her when she goes to college.

Try Craigslist for second hand items. Maybe even Ebay for new items.
Speaking of Secondhand, if you do end up moving out of the crib, I am DEFINETELY interested :)
Thanks so much and good luck!
