Advise for Weaning Baby

I'm hoping the lactation consultants will respond, as they do so faithfully. Several antidepressants are acceptible for breastfeeding. If fact, Zoloft is considered the safest by many doctors. If you want to continue breastfeeding, please get a second opinion about the necessity of weaning if you have not done so already. Please feel free to contact me for more information. Have you tried Soy formula, mine wouldnt take a bottle when i was trying to wean her either. I had to move her off cause i was drying up and wasnt making enough milk for her anymore. Only formula she would take is soy and i have been told it taste closer to breast milk. Good luck i hope you get her weaned.

Try mixing the formula with the milk--small amounts at first. Then keep increasing the amount of formula until it is all or at least mostly formula.

As someone so well pointed out, most antidepressants are compatable with breastfeeding. You are welcome to call me with the name of the medication and I will look it up for you.

As to feeding your 7 month old/ at this time, cows milk is contraindicated until after babys are a year old due to the concern about internal bleeding. Baby should be fine on foods and water without formula.

If you still decide to wean, your daughter needs formula until age 1 and should not drink cow's milk at this age. If she won't take it from a bottle, try a cup or mix it with rice cereal.
