Advice on Preschools

Hello! I have been looking into a few preschools for my son who will be 4 in
August. I have not been too impressed (especially by the prices) of the schools I've looked into. This will be my son's first experience in a preschool and I want it to be a really good one for him. Any suggestions? Two main things I am looking for is a smaller class size and of course good teachers with good teacher to student ratios. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks so much. Leah

I guess first I'd want to know what you are looking for in a preschool. What I was looking for was for a slightly structured environment, but freedom for kids to do art the way they want to (yes, SOME projects all the kids are going to make what looks pretty much identical, but I want to see a good opportunity for freedom of expression), pick some of their own toys, play with other kids. Lots of "big body movement" type activities along with sensory experiences. Not very much "academic" at this age.

I'm on the west end of Allentown, so I can't really reccommend a specific pre-school for you. I can say that at 4 years old my kids were (will be next year for the 4th) attending a preschool that is 3 half days per week, and that costs about $100 per month. It is at Bethany United Methodist Church in Allentown.

I will warn you...many preschools have already completed enrollment for the fall, so you may have difficulty finding a good one that has an opening. Bethany does enrollment in February.

Hi Leah,
I have five kids and all but one (we moved here too late for her) went to the same Pre School which I loved. It is called Triple C in Quakertown. Not sure how far that would be for you...I live in Coopersburg, but it was well worth the drive everyday. They have great class size ratio, compassioniate Teachers and a well organized staff.
Best Wishes,
T.

Hi Leah,

My daughter goes to Lehigh Christian Academy. She started at 2 1/2 and has gone there for three years. I couldn't be happier. There are two teachers and the maximum for the class is about 15. I have been very pleased with her education as well as the support and love they have for each child. Hope this helps.
