I got my bras from Breakoutbras.com. They had good supportive, sports bras, which I liked a lot. Unfortunately there wasn't any cleavage shown, but they worked for the time I needed them. Hope this helps.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good nursing bra? I'm particularly interested in a bra that will provide some good support and give me a little lift. I don't know if this is too much to ask of a nursing bra. I bought a couple at Kohls which I don't particularly like and I have one from Expressiva.com. The bras in the maternity store don't seem to be very good and a lot had underwires which I thought werne't recommended for nursing moms. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I second the Gillian and O'Malley bra at Target that has a soft cup and no underwires! They are about $15-$20 if I remember correctly.
A nursing bra with an underwire? I've never even seen such a thing, lol.
A friend of mine went to Macy's and bought at least one there. It was way too expensive for my taste though, so I never even looked at them. In fact, I don't think I've even er been in a Macy's except for once when the one nearest my home was going out of business. I can see why they're no longer in business here because even the clearance items were way too expensive.
Sorry, all that to say that I have no idea where to get a good one. If you find something you really like, please let me know too. :)
God bless,
A.
I bought my bras from Motherhood at the mall. They offer both wired and wireless bras. They have awesome 'sleep' bras! The ones I used had underwires but it's what I've always used. I found a couple of bras that were wireless there and at Target. I'm um...large... and had difficulty finding a bra that fit and held things up correctly. I hope you find something that works!
I'm cheap, so I bought mine at Burlington Coat Factory. The cheapest were $7.99 and they have with or without underwire.
Unfortunately, for nursing bras I've found that you have to pay for good support. I don't know what size you are, but I'm pretty big and have trouble finding good bras in the stores. Here are links to my favorite online stores. My top is Bravado: http://www.bravadodesigns.com/home.asp?area=US
These are awesome and have a good range in sizes. If you call their number, the people who answer are very helpful in answering questions and getting you the best bra for what you need.
I'm big enough that I can only fit in the largest size of one of their bras, so if you are bigger too and want more selection, try http://www.biggerbras.com/catalog/bras-lingerie-swimwear....=
They have a great selection of really big bras.
Hope that helps!
It really depends on your size and body type. If you want a good bra, you will probably have to pay for it, but I promise it will be worth it! You are right, for the first 6 months you shouldn't wear an underwire. I suggest writing customer service at breakoutbras.com they are great! They will tell you how to correctly measure yourself and suggest the best bras. Once you have gotten the correct size and fit and ordered a bra you like, another good website is biggerbras.com they specialize in larger sizes (DD+ and 36 and up) but they have everything. I get my 32FF nursing bras there!
Don't get freaked out if they give you a different size than you've ever worn, if you were measured at some place like Victoria's Secret, I can guarantee it was the wrong size. They are in the bra SELLING business, not the bra fitting business.
Good Luck! :)
I am so picky about my bras and I found so many I like at Motherhood Maternity. The selection they have absolutely blows the other places out of the water. I also like to have a little padding or molded cups to help give me some shape and not make the nursing pads so obvious. I found so many options there. BTW, I have always worn an underwire nursing or not. I am not comfortable without one and I have successfully nursed three kids and am still nursing the youngest.
bravado! designs...just type that into google & you'll get their website. they have fitting instructions. i loved my bravados! they had the most support that i found & no underwires. they are a bit pricey (about $50 for a bra) but i swear it's worth it.
I found the best at Target, and they have some without underwires. I don't do underwires ever, I hate them. I have a few from Motherhood, one from Kohls...which were more expensive and not comfortable! Target has nursing tanks too, which I really love.
I bought mine from Motherwear.com They have great sleep bras as well! They also have nursing shirts if you are interested. I also bought one at Target and it was good as well.
Try JCPenney - Medela makes one that I really liked. I found it online. Good Luck! I know I went through a lot trying to find comfortable, supportive bras that were easy to unhook and refasten discreetly. I have three girls and it seemed like I needed a different one for each of them.
I nursed 2 kids for about 14 months each, and I had the best nursing bras. I'm pretty sure that I ordered them from JC Penny. They were solid white and had some very pretty embrodery along the edge of the cups. They had adjustable cup positions and NON ELASTIC straps. (I think that is very important, too.) I'm sorry, I can't remember the brand, but they were very comfortable, and they lasted through 2 kids.
If a bra fits properly anf the wire is not cutting you by the breast it probably will not cause an infection, however some people are definetly more prone to breast infection. There is a site that is really very good for the full busted mom. This site will take any regular bra and convert it into a nursing bra. If you are intrested in the site it is callled Lingeriexperts.com
It's hard to find a good nursing bra that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! My favorite was from Target - their Gilligan & O'Malley brand. They didn't have seams across the front and were very comfortable. I thought they were pretty supportive. I'd also heard that underwires weren't good for nursing. Also, I thought it would be awkward for feeding since you can't just push the underwire out of the way. Good luck!
I LOVE my nursing bra top from Glamourmom.com My favorite is the nursing bra long top (not the nursing bra tank). It is a tank top that you wear under your shirt. I own 3 and constantly rotate. They are very supportive and comfy too!
Good luck!

You might try Isabella's bra shop in Dayton. http://www.superpages.com/bp/Dayton-OH/A-Big-Girl-BraShop... Good luck!
I cannot believe it took me so long to find a comfortable, yet supportive nursing bra, but here it is:

It is from Target, and is very inexpensive!
Good luck:)

p.s. I need a D cup, and even without underwire, it is very supportive.
i got my nursing bras in the maternity section at walmart and they have a soft cup bra that works really well. hope this helps
I'm not by any means well endowed, so I didn't have a problem there, but a good nursing bra was important to me. When I was nursing the only time I was braless was in the shower. I was so uncomfortable without it. I had a nursing tank from Target that I absolutely loved, but could only afford one. It was great for winter, because it kept my tummy warm when I felt half naked! It was also great for sleeping and nursing in bed. I also had bras from target and motherhood maternity. I know they sell nursing bras with an underwire, but I've also heard that you shouldn't use one because it can cause plugged milk ducts and mastitus. I just bought one new bra at a time until I found one that I really liked, then went back and bought a couple more just like it. It can get expensive, but having the wrong bra can cause all kinds of problems and pain. Some of the maternity shops have sales people who are trained to help you find the right bra. Ask in the shop for someone who has some experience with that. I looked all over and did finally find someone, the people at Victoria's Secret acted like I had cooties, and the people at JC Penney's recommended that I check out the maternity shop to be well fitted. In the end that's what I did and I did find a good bra, so it must have worked! Good luck.
I nursed five of my children using a regular front closure bra. It is no more difficult open or shut than a nursing bra "flap", plus you can get the perfect fit. Look for a department store to have a sale, than go get a fitting. Buying a fitted, quality bra was one of the best investments I ever made. Just make sure you have a material that can "breath". For extra support use a sports bra that closes in the front. Usually I never needed to unhook a bra, I just lifted it over the breast. If you have the right fit and material, it is not as uncomfortable as you may think.
