Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are interested in buying a new tv for the family room. We bought an entertainment set which has a width of 55". I am leaning towards getting a Samsung DLP-56". I know there's a light bulb that will need replacing down the road, but with the warranty, one bulb replacement is included. Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think of this tv, if you own one. I'm also open to hearing about other types like the plasma and LCD. I would like to know pros and cons of the different types of tv's you have actually used and not just heard from others. Also... are there any reliable electronic websites to order from? I have never ordered anything for a large amount of money on-line. I have stopped in two stores. I was very pleased with the help I received from Circuit City, but I'm still not sure if it's the best price and the best tv for us. I have gone to pricegrabber.com and this has helped some. Thank you in advance for helping me do my "tv homework."

What can I do next?

Hi,
we have a 55" Sony LCD which we love. We got it from Abt at a great price, I can even tell you who to talk to there (may he'll be able to price haggle with you a bit). If you havn't been to Abt make a point of going there, it's an electronic lovers dream come true!! very cool store!!!

Just so you know...circuit city and best buy will price match each other as well as their online prices, because sometimes they are cheaper than int he store. keep that in mind and good luck!

We have had a Sharp Aquos for about 6 months and are very happy with it. My husband did most of the "research" so I can't speak to all the things to look for, but I know he was not ging to spend that amount of money without getting a quality product. www.cnet.com is a wonderful website for reviews and info on all types of electronics, they also have really good prices. From what I hear plasma TVs use alot more energy than any other type, it is the "gas guzzler" of televisions. Good luck in your search.
