S.B. asks from Omaha, NE

My husband and I are going to take our boys (9 and 14) to Adventureland for the first time this week--a quick day trip from our home in Omaha. My question is a practical one-- how do you handle carrying things you need, while riding rides. I'm not going to take a purse, but need to carry the basics--money, wallet, phone, etc. I'm most concerned about safeguarding things from the water rides. Any helpful hints or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Hi! My kids both sail and they have watertight containers that go around their neck for their phones. Actually, they're good at using them whenever they think their phones may get wet. If someone was awake I'd ask where my husband got them... but I'd check REI first. Oh, he bought Otterboxes for all his guys because of too many phone-water incidents.. I don't know if they have any extra space to throw anything else in though like the thing my kids have.

fanny pack ? Or back pack. They will get a little wet, but not bad.

I take a cheapo drawstring backpack and put everything in ziploc bags inside. The backpack is small enough where you can wear it on the front or side of you while you are riding the rides.Take as little stuff as possible. I never take my whole wallet, just my drivers license, a credit card or two, and a little bit of cash. I also don't bring a change of clothes into the park. I leave them in the car. Ride the water rides either first so you can dry off throughout the day or last and change clothes right before you leave. Have fun!

There is a reason why tourists have fanny packs. I'm not sure if you can even buy them any more. I am the first to say they are not attractive but they are small, hold what you need, and someone has to get really close to you in order to steal it or something out of it.

The other option I have is to see if they have lockers. They may have bowling or bus station type lockers. You put in a coin take the key and lock it. You can go back as needed to get what you need.

Use a back pack and keep some Ziploc baggies inside. When we go to amusement parks I always carry a medium size backpack and Ziplocs for my phone, cash and anything else I don't want to get wet.

I have the side pockets for water bottles and some room to carry other things I may need. Most rides will have somewhere for you to put your pack, usually at your feet.
