Adult Stomach Problems- Any Suggestions?

So my husband is like most men and refuses to see someone about this. He, again like most men, have a fairly regular bathroom schedule. He gets up every morning like clockwork and spends 10 minutes in the bathroom and then again in the afternoon.

He has been complaining lately that he stomach 'isn't right' and from what he is saying it is looser and more unpredictable. He also says its been going on for about 3-4 months.

His 3 siblings are all lactose intolerant, but when they have 'problems' it is right after they have something with milk in it, and his are early in the morning before he has anything. He hardly ever has coffee and eats really healthy (in addition to working out regularly). The only thing that I could think of, because I am pregnant, is that he eats a deli meat sandwich EVERYDAY for lunch at work and that this build up of the nitrates that they warn pregnant women about could possibly be causing a problem.

I don't know what to tell him and he won't do anything to help himself :) MEN! Our lives aren't that stressful, compared to many, but he does work at an lower income school and has to wait every year from March to July to know if he has a job for the fall. We are financially ok, nothing too worrisome, but could always be better... Any suggestions on things to try?

Note: No other symptoms to speak of. He is a healthy guy with a mostly healthy lifestyle (likes his beer with the guys on a Sat night).

What can I do next?

Please make him go to the doctor. You do not mention how old he is and it is likely that this is not serious, but there are also serious illnesses that have subtle digestive symptoms. 3-4 months is a long time to wait for something to resolve. The earlier you find out what it is, the better chance you have of resolving the issue completely. Make the appointment for him if you have to.

Could be his gallbladder. Men can get much sicker with that than women, mostly because they won't go to the doctor. I feel your frustration, lol.

He really needs to be checked out, especially since it's been going on for so long.

He really should be checked out. Also, to help with his digestive system he should be taking a probiotic. Helps the colon and healthy flora in the intestine. To test your theory he should stop eating the lunch meat and see if that makes a difference. Also, he may have stress that is subconsicously bothering him and it is affecting his bowel. We all carry stress differently. As exciting as it is to add a baby to the household we all worry and are nervous on different levels. Keep us posted.

Look into 100% pure aloe vera juice. I get mine at Whole Foods Store, by Aloe Life. It's a body detox & good for many diseases & disorders including digestive problems. You can drink it everyday for the rest of your life. Scientists are currently studying it to see if it can cure cancer & AIDs. I haven't been using it very long to tell you my results, but I can say that aloe vera shampoo healed my son's severe scalp rash.

Probiotics! He may just have some kind of imbalance in his intestines or something. Start eating some yogurt enhanced with probiotic powder in the mornings.

have him try some live culture yogurt ....to reboot his system. This, in addition, to a few days of the BRAT diet....& avoiding all fried foods....may solve the issue.

He should see a gastro doc. It could be anything from simple to serious. ITs the serious that you don't want to mess around with.

What other symptoms does he have? Cramps, fever, chills, etc...
