Adivce on Preventing Another Yeast Infection

My four year old has been complaining that it hurts when she goes to the bathroom. She has been holding it and only going twice a day. We took her to the doctor and she has a fugus/yeast infection. So, we have been using Desitin and an anti-fungal cream. The doctor said it should clear up in a few days. My question is how do I prevent her from getting another infection. I feel so bad for her. She is in so much pain every time she urinates. She screams when we try to wipe her! We are also giving her baths with peroxide and baking soda in the water. Any advice would be great.

What can I do next?

Here's all the stuff that I know that works about yeast infections, like it or not: looser bottoms, air it out (difficult to do if you have a home daycare but maybe on a weekend just a nightgown or something with a little freedom)and the age old only white toilet paper, no bubble baths, wipe from front to back, in addition to the other things the other moms wrote. owwwiieee and good luck.

The vitamin shoppe sells childrens chewable probiotics and coconut oil. Coconut oil helps get rid of yeast as do probiotics. Otherwise you can increase the amount of yogurt your family eats and decrease the amount of sugars. Sugar feeds the candida aka yeast.

Another thing is to have her drink water. I know they say that the water that is mixed in with the juice and milk is enough but I say she should drink some water alone if she just sips on it and comes back and forth.

I also agree with the probiotics. They help control the candida that causes yeast infections. I give my son Shaklee optiflora. It's a tiny, tiny little pearl. It delivers the bacteria to the intestines better than any other product I know of, if you can swallow it. (I can get my 13 month old to swallow it most of the time). Otherwise, I sometimes just let my son chew it and it still helps.

Yep, probiotics. FloraBaby since she is still under 5yrs old from www.smartbomb.com it is in powdered form and can go in liquids. Best in the evening before bed if possible when the immune system is working its hardest.

When the good and bad bacteria are imbalanced in the body, it will produce yeast infections, especially if she has been given antibiotics at ANY point in her life, it kills the good stuff and it needs to be replenished with probiotics.

I give my 16m old them now, daily, especially during cold and flu season to help boost her immune system too. If she gets sick, she licks it in 1-2 days.

Cooking with coconut oil has many healing benefits, if you google it, you will find tons of info on it. You will be seeing more about coconut oil in 2009.

Good luck.
