Hello. I bought an adiri bottle b/c my son won't drink from a bottle. Still no luck, but trying everyday with the bottle. My question is, how do you put the milk in the bottle without spilling it? I try to put the bottle in that plastic top that comes with it as tight as I can and milk still leaks out of it. Is there a trick that I'm missing?

What can I do next?

I just bought the same bottle for my 4 month old b/c she is used to breastfeeding, and I'm trying to wean her to taking more of the bottle now that she is starting daycare. I, too, am experiencing the same problem. No matter how tight I put the cap, the bottle leaks. I guess its the bottle itself. I've tried 'Breast Flow' bottle from My First Years. It's a ver good bottle b/c it resembles an actual breast nipple.

A friend of mine used those and there was no leaking when she put it in the cup, you may want to call the company to make sure yours in not defective. As long as the nipple is squared with the bottom of the cup, they should be fine.

And don't feel bad about using a bottle, that's what they are made for.

How old is the baby? Do you need to leave him so he can have a bottle? Some suggest that you wait until the baby is at least 6 weeks. I feel that it is lucky to have a baby not take a bottle, it gives you an excuse to not let others take him from you. If you have the opportuntity, the best is the breast, keeping up your supply, babys development, it is all a perfect plan to feed our babies what they need on demand.

hi, i'm not sure about the bottles that you got, but i had problems with my daughter and certain bottles...the 1st years bottles worked wonders. the ones that come with the breast pump look and 'work' like the breast. once she was used to them, i was able to give her the 1st years SOOTHIE bottles (that are basically just like the 1st years soothie pacifiers) but the ones that are just like the breast are not only great because it really is like the breast, but it will only drip a little if upside down...other then that, no leaks. here's a link to the site with a pic of that specific bottle i'm talking about. good luck, i hope you find something that works.

Hi N.,

My daughter wanted nothing to do with the Adiri; I thought that the design left a lot to be dsired.

I find that Dr. Brown's wide are great. They help prevent gas and encourage the baby to open his/her mouth in a way that is quite like breastfeeding.

Hi N.,
I had a lot of trouble with the Adiri bottles. I think they could really stand to be redesigned. Even when filling the bottles with the caps on (upside down), milk leaks out when you turn it right-side up. I don't think that the nipple fits securely into the space for it in the cap and the bottom doesn't always screw on properly. I'd like to know if anyone else has a good suggestion because I had to stop using these bottles...they were too much of a pain!

hi N.,

i think you're doing everything right--the adiri bottles leak a little no matter how secure the plastic sleeve is attached to the bottle. make sure both parts are completely dry, though, when you put them together, as any water will prevent a seal. if they're both dry, i usually just get a little leakage.

good luck!
