Hi moms! We live in the Frankfort Area and my husband is taking a day off for my birthday in the next few weeks. We have a 1year old son. Any suggestions on where the 3 of us could go and enjoy a "family day"? I had already taken Dillon to the zoo last week and he could care less about the animals. He was more interested in all the kids and activity going on around him. Thats ok though, we still had fun!!
Thanks for all your help and advice!

It's your birthday! Mine is Sat. Hope it's a happy one. We went to Myan adventure indoor water park and it was GREAT!! There is a large place where your son can play an dthe whole family can have fun. There was a coupon for buy one get one free admission from Chigago Parent Mag. You can check their website to see if it is still there. Enjoy!! And since it is your b-dau see of you can get a sitter for at least some of the time hubby is off. Your marriage and your sanilty is important too especially with a little guy!

The Morton Arboretum in Lisle has a really beautiful and fun Children's Garden. It is located right at the I-355 North exit at I-88 west. My daughters just turned one and two and we went there to celebrate thier birthdays (they are almost exactly a year apart) and they loved it and so did my husband and I!

When our 1st daughter was almost 1 1/2, we ended up doing a family day downtown for our anniversary one summer. We took the train from here in Homewood and just walked around mostly. She enjoyed the train ride. It was before Millennium Park was completely finished - but that's a really cool place to go now. We grabbed some food from Corner Bakery and ate in Grant Park. We all had fun and when she was tired, she just slept in the stroller. It happened to fall on the free day at the Chicago Art Institute Museum, so we actually walked around there while she slept for a bit, and that was nice for us. We also walked to the Shedd Aquarium, and she enjoyed some of the fish, but could care less about most of them (but liked them a bit more than zoo animals at that age). We had a McDonald's dinner picnic before heading back on the train. It was really a nice, casual day for all of us and we didn't spend too much money.

SWIMMING!!! They all love that! A Lifetime fitness or mini water park locally would be cool, they have those little mushroom things that water fall off of and a lot of times they have baby slides and you and your hubby can do the big slides if you want too!

My son loves millennium park! There are so many things to look at and keep his attention. We sat and listened to the orchestra for a while. We had a picnic lunch and walked along the shoreline. It was amazing. The best part was the whole day was free, other than parking. Have fun!

My son loved the Dupage Children's Museum in Naperville. It's bit pricey. I believe it's about $8/person...What I did the first time is I paid, but at the end of my visit I joined and I used the money I paid to enter toward my membership (Save your receipt). It's a fun place for kids and my son is now 4 and it is still his favorite place to go to. With 355 now open it should take about 45-50 minutes to get there. Here is the website....http://www.dupagechildrensmuseum.org/welcome.html

Another place is the Arboretum in Lisle...They have a wonderful children's area.
