We have a fall festival in our small community and make apple butter and do a dinner. I am trying to put together a few crafts or games for the kids. The ages are 3 to 5th grade. It's only about 10 kids. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

What can I do next?

pumpkin carving is always a huge hit! Also I did an apple craft a LONG time ago when I was a kid ;) that is pretty cute...

cut up a bunch of apples, not sure how many, but a lot (probably 2 apples/kid??). If you have a mandolin, use that cuz you need them kind of thin. Then put them in the oven to dry them out. Then we used cardboard rings (I think available at craft stores) and hot glued the apples to the rings to make autumn wreaths. It's really a project for all ages and the older kids can always help the younger kids or they can use Elmer's glue...it will probably work. Then we glued on a festive bow and a door hanger. They were really cute and I remember my mom hung it up for a long time. You could get some spray shalack and give them a nice coat after you're done.

There is always the traditional leaf rubbing activities, that is good for the younger kids.

Games could be sack races or getting bails of hay and making race tracks to have races of bikes, trikes, or the older kids could do wheelbarrow races?

You could also make a group scarecrow that is to be displayed in town somewhere. Or you could raffle it off maybe to earn some money for something?? All the kids could help with that. The little ones would probably love stuffing it and the older kids would probably like dressing it and making a face. Plus they could maybe bring clothes from home or something.

I think with ten kids you can really go crazy! It's such a small number...the only issue is such a wide range of ages!

My daughter's preschool did a fall festival/flag football game last yr and it was a huge hit! It was a potluck lunch at the local park, there was an organized flag fb game for the kids that wanted to participate, and then a small bounce house, sidewalk chalk, bring your own bike, and playground for sibs and anyone who didn't want to play... It turned out really well. Good Luck and Have Fun!

PS: I am amending my response b/c of Denise P's repsons: Corn Hole!!! It is the funniest game EVER!!!!

Here is a website with ideas:

http://www.carnivalsavers.com/freeboothideas.html

A local museum as a open house 4 times a year with activities such as white washing a fence like Tom Sawyer, making bird feeders with pine cones peanut butter and birdseed, pinning some kind of spice on apples (not sure of the spice, but gives a Christmasy type smell)

I can remember painting walnuts with red and green fingernail polish to be used for Christmas decorations when I was in 2nd grade.

You might do a web search for more ideas.

Little kids this age love cake walks.
With only 10 kids, it will be easy to make sure that all the kids have some cupcakes or cookies to take home even if they don't win the cakes.

Pick a ghost. Wrap a white tissue around a sucker and tie yarn around it . With marker draw eyes and a mouth. Put them in a basket with styrofoam or just line basket stuffed with paper and stick them in . You put marker on the bottom of as many sucker sticks as you want to give prizes.

Ghost bowling. Use your child's bowling set if you have one. Put white socks on pins . Black eyes and mouth with paper stick ons.

pinata.

Tattoo station.

Face /hand painting station.

Decorate cookies.(or cupcakes) Use small ziploc bags with different color frosting. Snip off the corner of the bag. Use white frosting and add some food coloring. Super fun:)
