DD - Dear Daughter.
DH - Dear Husband.
I have no idea what HTH or JMO mean.
I think the Dear-various arose to save time/space when typing.
I think we need more distinctive relationship labels.
For example, I need a word that describes my relationship
with my second husband's second wife.
She and I are (now!) good friends.
Wife-in-law?

Right, for the most part, it's "dear" son, daughter, husband, but for a lot of the posts on here, I'm imagining the poster has another word in mind for the "D"- especially when talking about the husbands!

I can find out what acronyms mean here:

http://www.acronymfinder.com

This helps me even at work since our office is so into acronyms it's hard to figure out what anyone is talking about.

The first time I saw the DS DD DH it was on flylady.com (I saw the site referenced on mamapedia in someone's response)--but on that site it was actually explained what the acronyms were. On this site, I have noticed people just use acronyms wildly and assume everyone will understand!

my kids text and put things on facebook that I wonder about. You can google "text meanings" and they will all pop up!! Sometimes you'll wish you didn't know what they mean. LOL

Acronyms and abbreviations drive me a little nutty. I have to be honest. The whole texting lingo....I am such a stickler for my son spelling everything out properly when he e-mails me or any of our relatives. My friends who are teachers say all the time that kids don't even remember to, two, and too anymore because they always just want to write "2".
I'll tell you a funny story....it's not really an acronym, but a male friend of mine was going to be passing through this way and wanted to stop by. Knowing that I'm a single mom and I go to bed early, on top of not having men stay at my house, he e-mailed "Okay 4 men sleeping in your driveway?"
I wrote back, "What makes you think I would allow four men sleeping in my driveway?"
I'll never hear the end of that one.
He meant would it be okay since he would get in late for him to just sleep in his truck until we got up.
He stayed with married friends south of here so the driveway thing was avoided all together, but they all teased me about it.
I admit I'm a bit of a doofus when it comes to understanding this stuff sometimes.
There was one on here not too long ago. I think it was something about a BFP and I had no clue whatsoever. Someone said it meant big fat positive, or something of that nature, referring to a pregnancy test.
The first time I ever saw LOL was from my boss about 8 years ago. He e-mailed me about a problem he needed me to take care of while he was out of town and I thought it meant "lot's of luck!".

I guess a glossary could be in order. I just know people have gotten a kick out of me not being clued in. Including me.
