Dear Moms!
I have never had acne problem in my life! Of course used to have a few pimples on my face before the period starting but they went away within a few days. I had beautiful skin during my whole pregnancy and also later while nursing. My son is 10 months old and I still nurse him. My pimples started apearing (I am not 100% sure) when the number of nursing sessions started decreasing (first 6 months it was every 3-4 hours, now 3-4 times a day including the night). If anybody of you have the same problem or even better solution, please help me!
Thank you!
M.

I also recommend Proactive. It clears up my acne and leaves my skin feeling good.

Sounds like the cause is from hormonal change,
Burdock root taken in pill form is anatural way to help acne. It is a liver detoxifier (that is where all toxins and hormones get filtered out of system). It helps the liver. I take 2 everyday and my skin clears in a few days.

I started giving to my teenage son for break outs and it has been great.
There are no side affects but check if you use medications. It is herbal and only beneficial to the body.

Hi M.!
Pregnancy and childbirth sure does some crazy things to our bodies, huh?
I have struggled with acne for most of my adolescence and adulthood. But I had the same experience as you with pregnancy and breastfeeding- my skin looked great! As feedings became less frequent, my skin began to breakout once again (I was so bummed because I thought I had finally grown out of it!). I've tried everything- proactive included. Proactive is great- it does make your skin feel really good- but it stopped working for me after a while. I have had the most luck with both the mini-pill (great when breastfeeding) and then with ortho-tricyclen (once my son was weaned). My skin is clear and smooth now. I think it helped to regulate my hormones, as my acne, like yours, seemed to be tied to my cycle.
My sister-in-law has moderate adult onset acne and has been using proactive for a long time, but to no avail. She told me that her next move was to get back on the pill.
Everyone is different, but its definitely worth speaking with your OBGYN or midwife about.
One more thing that helped me- I totally stopped using any kind of harsh cleansers and exfoliants and switched to St. Ives olive oil cleanser. My face is clean, soft, and no longer irritated.
Good luck to you! I know how devastatng and frustrating this can be.
Lara
