Feeling and looking hot is an attitude - you can do it mama!!!
When I FINALLY started my periods again - it didn't affect my milk supply. I've heard that it does affect some women....
Just go be a HOT MAMA!!!
I think I've figured out why I've been sooo tired this week. And why my feet are feeling kind of swollen today. When I went to the ladies' room earlier today, I saw what looked like my period trying to work its way back into my life. It's been more than a year and a half, and my baby is 11 months. Just curious from a mama's perspective and not a doctor's--If this turns out to be the case, will this likely affect my lactation? I was under the impression that I hadn't been having one because I was nursing. Well, I'm still nursing.
(To top it off, my husband and I are hitting some holiday parties tomorrow night, and I was looking forward to looking and feeling pretty HOT. Right now, I am feeling pretty blah. And bloated! Wth...)
As usual, you ladies have come through for me! Thanks for the encouragement! I'm really playing the whole nursing thing by ear, but I want at least a year.
I just got some sexy NYDJ to "dress up" in, and I'm hoping that they'll make me feel better about the bloat. (I love NYDJ, btw. Have any of you tried them?)

Mine always came back almost immediately after each of my 3 kids, and I'm still nursing my daughter at 16mos. (I never had any of the breastfeeding bonuses like faster weight-loss and no periods, grrr.) ;-) Never affected my supply. Have fun at your parties, no matter what!
Didn't affect my lactation in the slightest. Mine came back around month 7 and I nursed for almost 2 years. With it came my new monthly norm, too: PMS. THAT really sucked. Had never dealt w/ that pre-child.
I had mine come and go through the 15mo I nursed my last. if it is the case ibuprophen will be your friend :)
I BF my baby for a year, shes 16 mon now, and i got my period back right away, by 8 wks i was bleeding again. I wouldnt worry about it too much, stress can make the supply go down. Just keep doing what your doing, nurse often and dont skip feedings.
Yeah, my production went way down...but I had never been a real big producer of milk anyway. Maybe it's just me.
Mine came back at 7 months. It didn't affect my nursing.
No, it won't affect your lactation. Your milk changes with the needs of a growing baby. You might see a difference in your milk. You may also find that your baby wants to nurse more for a couple of weeks. Even though it messes up your schedule, let him/her nurse as much as possible because it is a natural way of telling your body that your baby needs more and you will start producing more. I used to get annoyed when this happened but it wasn't until later that I discovered the baby was putting him through this for a good reason! :) Anyway, nurse away. Sorry your period is back, I always loved not having one for about a year post baby!
It's so funny that you asked this because I was wondering about this myself last week. As I recall with my 11 year old my cycle started again while I was still nursing him when he was 8 months or so. With my 8 1/2 month old, he weaned himself almost 2 months ago but I've been pumping and he's still EBF, but my period came back last week and boy I felt awful! must be hormones! it's gone now and I feel back to normal, thanks for posting!!
