How exactly do you know your baby isn't growing? I had four kids, I couldn't tell much, my OB could and if I felt there wasn't enough growth that would be the time I would address it.

Still I know women with eating disorders that had perfectly healthy babies, trashed their body but the baby was fine because a baby will take what they need.

So along with everyone else I am very confused what your issue is.

K., do you understand how pregnancy works?

Your doctor can only tell you to eat well; the baby creates the placenta for the passage of blood, nutrients, and oxygen from mother to baby. Your OB can only advise you to drink lots of water and eat a good diet of nutrient-rich foods.

Please call your obstetrician and arrange an appointment. You don't say that there was an ultrasound which gave you this information, so I'm not sure where you received it from. If you had received this info from your OB, they would have given you more information on the status of the baby (if there was still a heartbeat) and options to consider. Again, your medical professional is your only way of getting conclusive information. I never had an ultrasound past 20 weeks, so there is a lot of information missing here. You need to talk to your doc, not people on the internet. We cannot responsibly explain your situation because we don't have all the information something like this requires.

I'm not sure what you mean by "my baby seems to have stopped growing." What are you basing this on?

If you are basing it on an ultra sound, the measurements are rough estimates. There isn't a level of certainty.

If you are basing it on the weight of your baby, again, those are estimates.

If you are basing it on your weight, well, I never gained weight ... at all. Two babies, and I gained zero weight. This meant I actually lost about 30 pounds after each child was born. It's really too bad that I gained it all back very quickly. I now weight much more than I did before I was ever pregnant, ug!

Ask lots of questions! But don't assume your OB is incompetent just because he/she says not to worry. There are a lot of factors to making a baby, and sometimes the things that us "lay people" think are a big deal really aren't.

All doctors do ultrasounds these days, and they can tell if your baby is growing properly in the ultrasound. Your question can best be answered by any doctor you are seeing.

There is nothing special you have to do to help your baby grow, just eat and take the vitamins your doctor probably prescribed.

Make an appointment with your doctor and tell her what you are worried about. I'm sure she will clear up your concerns.

My friend only gained 5lbs during her pregnancy but she had an 8 lb baby. She just ate really healthy food and had she not been pregnant she would have probably lost 20 some pounds.

What makes you think the baby hasn't grown since the 27 week? Did a doctor tell you that or is it because you haven't gained weight since then?

it means your due date is wrong and you need toa talk to your dr about it.
aslo talk to your dr about baby seeming to stop growing.
just call the dr. just talk to them about it.
if you don't trust the dr then get a diffetent one but it may be difficult to do so.
many drs will begin to talk induction 2 weeks AFTER the due date so be patient with your dr and if they say all is well then wait it out.

Can you take someone with you to the DR appt who speaks better English? I'm not trying to make you feel bad I just think there's a lack of communication, your post is very hard to read/follow. If you have someone to help you communicate you will get better information. Good luck!

I'm so sorry, but none of us can offer you a real explanation. We aren't doctors and we don't know any of your particulars. You've changed ob's and still don't know. That's a frightening place to be.

Can you take someone with you to see the doctor? Someone who is smart, level-headed and able to keep emotion out of the equation. Someone who will ask the hard questions and listen to the answers. Someone who can help you deal with the answers.

Thinking of you, K..

Eta: I see that your ob said your baby is doing fine. So what are you afraid of? Your doctor said babie is ok because baby has things happening that indicate baby is OK. If it's size, Babies take nutrition from the mother.A baby will take what he needs even if taking it depletes his mom's supply. If mom is healthy, baby gets everything he needs. When mom is healthy nothing needs to be done to increase weight. Weight is determined by more than nutrition. Their genetic make up has a great deal of influence on baby's size. A baby gets.his genetics from both parents. Baby can be small or large. Both are healthy. Babies with a small birth weight can still be healthy. Why don't you trust your doctor?

Where did you get the idea that something needed to be done? Why didn't you ask your doctor more questions so that you could be reassured? Please talk with your OB to get answers.

I, too, am confused by the lack of information in your question. Sounds like you found information on the Internet or friends. And that you changed OB based on information from people who do not know you and your particular medical condition. What do you want a doctor to do? Did you talk with the OB about what you read and that you were afraid? What did the OB tell you?

OB doctors rarely accept a new patient at this stage in pregnancy. What did the new OB say about your fears? Is the new doctor doing anything differently than the old one? What does he say about your baby's condition?

Has a doctor said that your baby is in trouble, that not growing is or may be a problem. What is your baby's condition in other areas? Have a heartbeat, moving around, healthy size to be born?

You do know that a due date is just an estimate and is frequently wrong. My last 2 grandchild were three weeks overdue when my daughter's OB induced labor for one and did an already planned c-section for the last. Baby was healthy, delivery went well.

Doctors are required to tell you of a possibility if things may be different than what is expected. Is that what scared you?
