About to Take an Axe to the Crib That I Took Apart and Can't Put Back Together!!

I hope someone out there has a suggestion before I go crazy- I took apart our crib to move to another room and just can't get the dropside back on, it just doesn't seem to go on! Of course I can't find the instructions which are in the house somewhere. I did e-mail the manufacturer but who knows how long it will take to get new instructions and I'm very impatient!

I have a Babi Italia pinehurst crib by Lajobi Inc. It seems pretty similar to other dropside cribs so maybe someone else will know how this piece goes on...

I checked the model # on my crib and mine is not part of that recall... I'm tempted to grab a drill and bolt the side permanently in since I never use the dropside anyway.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I finally got it! I did have to loosen up the sides (duh) which I should have figured out sooner. Hopefully I didn't damage it with all the finagling I was trying to do.

Not that there is anything wrong with drilling and screwing if you don't use the dropside anyway, but have you tried Googling for the instructions?

My son used a hand-me-down crib from a friend who's daughter is much much older, so the instructions were long gone. We searched online and found not the exact model, but a similar enough model to the one we had on our hands to put it together. Good luck!

Try googling it and getting a customer service number for the manufacturer... I couldn't find online instructions and unfortunately, if they can't walk you through it on the phone they'll probably want to mail you some (yikes!) ... one thing though, check to make sure that there aren't any of those wooden brackets in the way, AND, you might have to loosen up some of the sides in order for it to fit (does that make sense?) If you've already tighten everything else up, no, it's not going to fit... especially if there's another bar for stability that you've already tightened. Hope you figure it out! I'm pretty handy but I've got a short fuse when I can't figure stuff out too!! GOOD LUCK and best wishes :)

I just googled it to see if I could find a user manual in PDF...I couldn't find it. But I did see a ton of sites that said that crib was recalled! I'm not sure if it your crib. You may want to google it to see.

Good luck!

I'm glad you figured it out. We have the same brand and there was definitely loosening involved in reassembling it after we moved. I would, though, recommend disabling the drop-side though. Apparently, now, because of all the recalls, you cannot even legally give away a crib with a drop-side. Once you're done with it, if you want to donate it to a charity, sell it at a yard sale, or give it away on Freecycle, you are legally obligated to bolt the drop side permanently. I haven't done so yet, but you can contact the manufacturer for a kit to do so.
