This is the second time, im not sure what exactly is the number. The secretary told me that it was not that high, just a little off. im waiting on the doc to call me. what i want to know is what is the next step? do any of your kids have this?am i feeding her something wrong? did i do something wrong when i was pregnant? i don't understand, my dd is 3 years old, she has been to a neuro, had a MRI, Cat scan,EEG, go to a cardiologist(heart murmur but it was benign) now a podiatrist and soon a endocrinologist. What is going on? is like a never ending thing. And to think i want to have another child, i don't think i could.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I spoke the doc and he said it was high but not my much. Last time it was 4, now is just 5. He said the TSH which is the one that produces hormones is ok. They would test again in 2 months and then if its still high they will send her to the specialist. Thanks all for the advice and the kind words.

I don't see how this could be related to something you did or are feeding her. Don't kick yourself over it, it sounds like you have some work ahead of you, research, doctors, etc...to get to the bottom of this. Sometimes to find what is causing a symptom takes a long time. Stay with it until you have answers. A good question is to find out if it's related to something genetic, it may or may not be or may be so rare. Until you have some answers it is hard to say. All the best!

If it was the TSH test and it was high, then her thyroid is under functioning a little. This is very correctable. A little bit of synthroid or armor thyroid and it'll be like there's no problem at all. There will be monitoring of her levels, but it's very manageable.
Besides the slight limp you mentioned in a earlier post and possibly an earlier elevated thyroid test, what other symptoms has she got that she is going to so many doctors for? Are you seeing a doctor for the anxiety all these tests must be causing you? It's got to be hard when a child should have to spend so much time in medical testing instead of playing, being in preschool and having fun. Is your husband/partner helping you with all this? You need to make sure you take care of yourself so you can be there for your little girl.

I'm sorry it has all been so hard. My understanding is that getting on thyroid medication is simple without hard side effects and one feels better.

You didn't do anything wrong during pregnancy. Some kids have more issues than others. No one's fault. It is just how life is. I can't tell what the issues are by your post. I am guessing someone is worried about her brain. Can't tell why. If you don't understand why, please go back to the doctor and have them explain it to you. Keep going back as many times as needed to understand. Sometimes when the doctor starts explaining scary stuff/things we don't want to hear we stop listening. This is not on purpose. It's just how human beings are. The doctors know this, so don't be embarressed. I can't tell from your post their concern about her thyroid levels. It depends on which test is high on whether it's hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism they are thinking about. Some kids have borderline numbers, so they will watch over time. Sometimes things develop over time, so it doesn't mean someone missed something. Remember at 3 years old things are still growing and developing. Until they have a diagnosis for your child they can't tell you if any of these things could happen with a second child. It's always a chance we take when having children. There are no guarantees. You can have a healthy child at birth and an infection or accident could change everything. I think that is a point our culture is missing. People always want to believe that something caused something. I think they think if we know the cause we can prevent things. There is a lot we have no control over. Some things simply happen. Best wishes to you and your little one!

My son had a GI work up the summer of last year and his TSH was ever so slightly off. He is also lactose intolerant and was on soy milk. Soy is not good for the thyroid and can throw the levels off. If she is on soy that may be the culprit. Now he has only almond or rice milk. (he is actually able to tolerate some yogurt and ice cream now) But my doctor said not to worry about the levels and we'll recheck them when he's a little older. Good luck!
