Feb 2012 i had a routine mammogram which was abnormal. I was called back for spot compression studies which continued to show abnormality and had to have an ultrasound. Radiologist determined that i should return for follow up in 6 months. On Oct 24 and I had a diagnositic mammogram and ultrasound which revealed a developing focal assymetry in inner part of right breast. Ultrasound also revealed a hypoechoic nodule on the outer aspect of right breast. Radiologist wanted to do biopsies ASAP, which were done on October 26. I am now waiting for results and was told it would be 3 working days. Everything that i read online has not been good. Has anyone else had this problem?

What can I do next?

I have and it was horribly nerve wracking waiting for the results which were just fine. And if they aren't that is why they are doing this. We don't like it, of course not, but there are so many things they can do nowdays about every medical condition out there! they do this to be supersafe. I know, I know try not to worry. But you see I also had uterine cancer, caught in the early stages and have been fine for three years! And the mammograms came after that. eeeuu I was scared. So plan on everything being fine, take lots of baths or work out or whatever it is that relieves your stress and know that we mamas are here for you and have gone through many, many things and have survived!

I am sorry you have to go though this. I don't have any experience with it but there is a web site that helps you find online support groups, try it out.

To the best of your nerves and ability, PLEASE STAY OFF THE INTERNET. Anything having to do with mammograms, ultrasounds, second-look mammograms, biopsies, etc. are terrifying to read about on the internet. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and try your damndest to stay off of it.

Let us know how it all pans out.

Check out the forum over at www.breastcancer.org if you want to get some answers from women extremely knowledgeable as well as supportive. You will also find women who understand the 'wait' for test results that you can commiserate with. Good luck to you.

The waiting is absolutely the worst. I will be praying for good results for you. Sometimes the results come sooner than they say. Just try to remember that most of the time, the results are benign. I am a breast cancer survivor, so I have been in your shoes, but I pray that your results are completely benign. God bless!
