A Place for My Son to Play in or near St Petersburg

I am looking for an indoor or outdoor place where my son can play. We often visit the Tyrone mall because it is close, and it has a large padded area where my son can move without me being concerned about falling on the hard concrete, he is just learning to walk. Is anyone familiar with any areas near or in St Pete, indoor/outdoor/playgroup? Thank you in advance for your time.

What can I do next?

Hi,

One place that we've been a few times is My Little Playtown on West Bay in Largo. It's a cute place for kids to spend time playing with all the toys, etc.

There is also Ultimate Party and Play Zone off I think 4th Street. They have slides for the older kids, but also a nice area for the young ones.

Good luck finding some new places!

Hi there!

I teach a class in St. Pete called StrollerFit - it's a great class for both mom & baby. It's a workout for mom, we incorporate strength training and cardio. And it's a developmental activity for baby, we invovle the kids by singing, counting, naming body parts and more. At the end of the class, the kids get out of the strollers and play while moms do abs and core work.

We meet at Demens Landing Park, downtown St. Pete near the Pier. Let me know if you'd like to come join us one morning, I think you both will have a great time! Your first class is FREE!

International Mall has a nice new area like Tyrone's to play in, if you wanted to drive to something different one day. I don't know how old your son is? But I like Crescent Lake park. The play area had the ground rubber bits which is soft and the area by the swings is soft, but looks like grass. Also in Largo I recently heard about My Little Playtown. Sounds great! Haven't had a chance to make it out there yet though. http://www.mylittleplaytown.com/ Have fun with your little one!

My also little favorite place is called Cafe Bebe, ###-###-####) They are off of indian rocks road. Next door is and organic produce co-op that is great to shop or become a member.

I'm in the Clearwater area, so I go to a lot of public parks etc over here.

I hope this helps and finds you happy and rested.

There is a wonderful newer indoor playroom on Seminole Blvd. in Seminole called Mommy's Cozy Corner. It is clean and inviting and caters to the first time mom. The owner is wonderful! You should check it out at mommyscozycorner.com

have you been to azalea recreation center? they have several playgroups for toddlers. i think you have to pay about $20 a month for it, but they have different groups, so you can choose what you want him to do. the rec center is really close to tyrone mall.

Lots of things to do! Children's Hands on Museum (next to Sunken Gardens) if you live in Unincorporated Pinellas, you can get a free annual membership with them. The Ultimate Party Play Zone 62nd Ave N, St. Pete...Play Time Express, Tyrone...My Little Play Town, West Bay, Largo (this is the one we frequent the most), Bounce University, Clearwater, Gymboree, South Tampa, Cafe Bebe, Bellair..as you can see lots and lots of great places..Lots of great Parks too. Largo Park is VERY popular as it is shaded and has lots of equipment to play, a large open field, a walking trail, and a real running train once a month. Lake Seminole Park (Park Blvd), International Mall Tampa, great indoor playground. You can go to Busch Gardens pay for one pass and get in free for the rest of the year...you can bring your lunch. They have a great area for toddlers, train to ride through the savannah, animal shows, indoor air condition show that entertains kids and parents. If he is 2 and under it's free for him! My son loved it and we went before he was two. It was a nice change of scenery every couple of months and we only stayed for a few hours and he napped on the way home. As you can see LOTS of choices!!! Have fun!!!

Hi!

I havent been there personally but have talked to the owner and she sounds Fantastic! It is an indoor bounce house typw of place. It is caleld "Bounce U". They have a website and the phone number is 727-548-JUMP. I have some of my high school students work there, they love it! I am a high school teacher at a local school. They say the kids absolutely have a blast and it is a lot of fun! I plan to take my kids there on Tuesday night for the first time! They have open play at limited times and for a reasonabel amount of money. My kids are young and they love that kind of thing (3 1/2 and 4 1/2 years old). Give it a try. If we love it, I am planning their birthday party there, since it is so hot in the summers here.

For an outside spot, I love Largo Central Park. It is on East Bay and Missouri, not sure where you live in St. Petersburg but I dont think it would b to far for you, if you lived on the Northern part of the city. ALrgo park is nice and clean. Always have a great time there with my little ones and they always have some type of festival or events going on that are usually free. Good Luck! I am relatively new to the area and have been trying to find out a few spots to go to myself. Also, last but not least, Tuesday night kids eat free at Chik Fil A and their little indoor playground is always sanitzed and clean. We like that place too!

Good Luck
Val
