I'm moving back to Florida this August. I've been living abroad for the past 4 years. I will be moving to Port St Lucie. I have a 4yrs old boy to educate, he'll be five next Feb. I do not know if I could get him into a good K-program or will he have to attend a preschool. We are currently living in Dublin, Ireland and he was due to start K this Sept. Any suggestion on what I might need to do? Also please recommend a good school and community in the PSL area as we will be shopping for our new home. I cannot do much from where I am and I've only visited PSL this Feb.

D.,
In order to enter Kindergarten your Son needs to be 5 years old by September 1, if not he would have to go to PRE-K 4. My Daughter attended a wonderful Preschool this year that I would highly recommend in the Port St Lucie area. You can message me back or email me at ____@____.com for further information. Also if you still need help in finding your new home, I am a Realtor. I am looking forward to speaking with you. Thanks P.

Hi D.,

There are lots of schools in Port St. Lucie. Do you have a home selected already? Are you working with a Realtor? I have been in Port St. Lucie for 20 years and can help make suggestions. I know what you are going through wanting a good school. When my son started I went to everyschool. Have you thought about public or private? Does your son have any special interest or needs? When will he turn 5? Not trying to pry just wanting to give advice by finding out more.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

I have heard very good things about Morningside Academy in Port St. Lucie. They are affiliated with some church, but I don't know which denomination. They call the pre school "Little Friends Pre-school" address 2180 Morningside Blvd Port St. Lucie Fl 34952 - tel # ###-###-####. They also have an upper school and I'm sure they can tell you the cut off age for kindergarten. My next door neighbor sends her 9 year old daughter there and they rave about it. The work is supposedly hard in the upper grades, but parents feel that they are giving their kids an excellent education there. The school is beautiful from the outside (never been inside) and in a very nice area of PSL. This would also be a lovely place to live. I am a realtor in the area working for RE/MAX OF STUART and would be most happy to help you find just the right home when you get here. You can reach me by email at ____@____.com or on my cell at ###-###-####. The prices in PSL have never been better and there are some really incredible deals right now.I just sold a home on Morningside to a lovely family from Pennsylvania and they love it there. In fact they told me that they would love to send their kids to the academy and are figuring out their money. Good luck! S. Dickinson

As far as places to live a good friend of mine is a realtor and would be happy to work with you from abroad. Her name is Susan Maxwell and her number is ###-###-####.

For preschools, it is tough. My daughter did very well at a preschool called Sunflower Educare but it was a nightmare experience for my son. A friend of mine really liked Morningside Academy. My son ended up at a preschool in Stuart just south of PSL and it was fabulous. There are many families from PSL that drive their children there. It is the Early Childhood Learning Center at Temple Beit HaYam. It is at a Jewish Temple. We are Catholic and I'm not sure what the ratio of children in the preschool are that were actually Jewish but there is no religious requirement. I was very pleased with the education and socialization he recieved there.
