I just took my 9 year-old daughter to Target and let her pick one. She's more likely to use it if it was her choice.
My 9 y/o daughter needs to start using deodorant, I am looking for suggestions on what brand to buy her.
Thank you,
I just took my 9 year-old daughter to Target and let her pick one. She's more likely to use it if it was her choice.
I would have her use Toms of Maine (no aluminum) or another brand with no aluminum. My 7.5 yr old son uses that brand. There are several different scents so she can choose her favorite.
Tom's of Maine is a very natural choice :)
i rub coconut oil on my underarms then dab some baking soda on it. Just a very thin layer does the trick and its' completely safe and effective
or you could get a little fancier and make this homemade deoderant (i've tried it, and LOVE it! This is what my husband uses on a daily basis)

I have my 9yo use the same deodorant I do.
Deoderant only? I think they used to make something called Tussy but I haven't look for it in a long time.
My SD personally likes Dove or Suave.
I would also recommend Tom's because it's all natural. Arm and Hammer also has an all natural one but it's more of a guys scent. I bought that for my 10 year old son, the Tom's had more girly scents.
Also there are some "teen" deodorants but I would check the labels as far as how much additives are in them, the more natural the better!
My just-turned 10 year old granddaughter is now using it, and developing so wearing a bra, where did the time go?!
I took her shopping and asked her which brand she wanted to try, as she'd be the one wearing it and more apt to use it if she liked it. She picked out two, Secret and Dove.
My son started using Tom's of Maine.
NO aluminum.
Hi S.,
We use Melaleuca brand deoderant that has no aluminum and works really well Whatever you do, don't let her use one with aluminum. Aluminum has not only been linked to Alzheimer's disease but breast cancer as well. Metals build up in your system so starting her young would be disastrous.
You can find other ones at a local health store. Avoid Walmart...even if it says natural or organic, it doesn't meet proper standards.
God bless...

Just remember roll on Deodorant she will be fine, but avoid, Antiperspirants.
No sprays.. You do not want her inhaling it.
Try the all natural first.. Down here we are still having 90 degree weather so our kids tend to need some more help..
You can try alcohol first and see if that will work during school. She will have to do it again after she gets home, but if it works, its cheaper than buying deoderent.
Go for something Aluminum free. I personally use Toms of Maine.
My son was 7 when he started to stink, and realized it was his hormones, even though his labs looked normal. (When my hormones are off I get BO, and I take Symplex F.) We started him on 2 Symplex M (m or male) each day and within a week, no BO. They are natural supplements that just balance out hormones, rather than giving a drug to control hormone production.
I also use Avalon Organics deodorant which is alcohol based, and it has geranium and some other oil in it. The alcohol kills bacteria without aluminum or other additives.
When I was a kid, my mom gave me zinc and that helped. She'd say, "zinc cuz ya stink."
Avoid Teen Spirit. My d still has a rash and it smells.
Toms, available at walmart fr $3.50, doesn't smell or burn.
My daughter uses Arm & Hammer "Essentials" natural deodorant.
It has no aluminum and or parabens in it.
