My friends 9 month old has been healthy in every way -but last week she stoped sitting up on her own. She also will not roll over to reach things...has anyone else experienced this?
my brother has a friend whos son was just like that. She move to the usa to find a doctor that could help her but they have never found what wrong with him. Hes about 7 years now and he still can sit, cant roll over cant hold his head up.
If she had just recently recieved her shots, take her IMMEDIATELY to her pediatrician.
This could be a severe reaction and can be permenant if she isn't taken in NOW.
It very well may be mercury poisoning, or in their terms, a reaction to thermisol (which is a mercury derivative).
I hope there isn't anything wrong, but she needs to get her to the doctor to get checked out, maybe its just an ear infection throwing her off. Let us know what the doctor says.
As a mom & an occupational therapist I first will ask if the child is allowed to play on the floor with toys. Did she roll over, reach, finger feed etc before & then stopped? If she was doing things previously and then stopped then the parents need to bring the child to the pediatrician and ask for referrals. They need to get to the bottom of why she stopped achieving her developmental milestones. Did she start to crawl so now she's too busy to sit? There are many questions. Are they concerned? Children do achieve their milestones differently but it is something to look at.

Just to be on the safe side you should tell her to check with a doctor about it. It's not likely a child would stop progressing at that age. Hopefully she's ok.
I would take her to see a Dr. so they can run tests. It happened to someone I know and the outcome was not good. Hope in your case it is nothing, but it is better to be safe then sorry.
what all the others are saying i think are very true. every child is different and if they are concerned, they need to seek professional help. first thing that came to my mind, without scaring anyone, is a possible side effect from a vaccination. not knowing how some will react, always keep an eye out for reactions. good luck!!!
Your friend should speak to her pediatrician immediately. It could be nothing or it could be something but the only way to know for sure is if she sees a professional. When my son stopped babbling I was told by family and friends not to worry. I was glad that I was very pro-active and did not listen to them. He had a large fluid build up that made him deaf. His speech was delayed for almost a year but because I caught it when I did he caught up rather quickly.
One thing my pediatrician recommended to me was to stop comparing my child to everyone else's. With that said, every baby develops on his / her own, at their own pace. Some babies are quick to talk early, others are a little delayed...some babies cut teeth earlier than others, etc.
What's important is for your friend to talk to HER baby's pediatrician and get his or her input. Until she has spoken to her pediatrician, tell her to stop worrying unless her doctor tells her that there is reason to be concerned.
I'd call the pediatrician and ask about this. Not to be alarmist but to be reassured that nothing is wrong. Maybe babies stop doing things sometimes. Maybe there is a problem.
