9 Month Old Waking up REALLY Early

My 9 month old has never been a real good sleeper, however we were finally on a pretty good night time schedule. She would go to bed between 7 and 7:30 and wake up between 6:00 and 7:00. However the last three mornings she has been waking up at 5:15. I read a book that said to leave her in her bed until at least 6:00, so that it was I have been doing (she is not really crying, just talking to herself and fussing a little).
I was thinking about trying to put her down a little later to see if that would help, but she usually wakes up from her last nap around 3:15 so by 7:00 she is pretty much a mess. Plus this all started on Sat when we attended a family event and she did not go to sleep until 8:30 (was up at 5:15).
Has this happened to anyone else? Was it a phase or might this be her new schedule (Yikes!). Should I contiune to keep her on her schedule and see if she goes back to waking at 6:30ish?
Any input is appreciated

My son is 18 months old and he does this off and on. Usually when he's teething... but for us it's just a phase, and it passes.

Good luck!

It could be a number of things. It may be a phase or sleeping patterns may be changing all together.

One quick recommendation. I have a mobile/music box (sort of thing) in my little one's crib. It has large buttons and (if yours is pulling up & can get to it)... mine will turn her music box on by herself & just lay around & talk to herself, etc. What I am getting at is maybe provide something for your little one to play with or do during this early wake-up time. (Of course - don't put toys, etc that could be hazzardous during the night)

Or it could be time to change up the sleep/nap times. Can you move the later nap to like 4 or 5. Mine goes down at about 4:30-5 & that is when I start dinner. It's great because she is not under my feet while I am cooking. Then she goes to bed around 8pm.

Hope this helps... just some suggestions!

I would get some toys for the crib...like the ones Fisher Price has. My son (who just turned 3) has the Flutterbye Birds light show still in his bed, and he's had them since birth. It helped a lot when he was younger and still in the crib. It's also soothing for him to turn the music on and fall asleep to.

darken the room. the sun is rising earlier and earlier which is causing a lot of kids to wake up earlier. make her room as dark as possible...

M.,

My son is 6 months old, so we are a little behind you. But I can tell you what my sons nap/sleep schedule is and hope it can help you. Breakfast at 7:00 Morning Nap - 8:30-10:30, Afternoon Nap 1:30-3:00, Dinner at 6:00, Evening Nap 7:00-8:00ish, Bed at 9. It really helps him sleep all night long, I normally have to wake him up (We have to leave the house by 6:30). I really hope this helps.
