9 Month Old Still Waking Twice at Night

My second baby is 9 months old and is often waking up for his late night feeding between 10pm-1am and again many days between 2 and 4am. He slept 12 hrs. straight from 3-5 months, and then from about 5-7 months started waking up 1-3 times every night. Then, he got 4 top teeth almost at once, and started sleeping 8 hours, so I chalked those 3 months of crazy wakeups to teething. Now, he's got 8 teeth and is starting the wakeups again. He is nursed full time, and will eat and go back to sleep (although I usually have to change his diaper too as it's getting full).
Any other experience with this? Is it time for "tough love?" Could he be genuinely still hungry overnight at 9 months?? My first boy never did this- after he started sleeping through the night, he always did. My baby is not too interested in solids yet, but he is eating more table foods and some baby food as well. I'm not sure if I should cuddle him, put him back down, and let him cry it out for that early morning feeding, or just keep feeding him since he goes right back to sleep. Has anyone had success doing that?
Thanks!

Some babies just are more needy at night. He could be hungry at night.

I believe in doing what works. If feeding him gets you AND him more sleep and peace-- then do it!

They're only babies for a little while....

Our son basically slept through the night from 2 to 6 months. After that, he started waking up anywhere from 2 to 5 times a night to nurse.. and even after we switched to formula around 9 months, he was still waking up multiple times per night. Now, at age 3, he still wakes up occasionally during the night and every morning between 4 and 6am for a cup of milk. Then he goes back to sleep until 6:30 or 7am. Basically what I'm saying is that not every kid is going to sleep soundly through the night forever. Teething is a huge factor for some kids (and it doesn't bother others at all). We used the Ferber method beginning around 8 months, and it worked to get him to sleep initially at night, but it never worked during the nighttime wake-ups. We gave up at 16 months, when he climbed over/fell out of his crib... switched to a toddler bed and started using The No Cry Sleep Solution, which has been wonderful and has excellent suggestions.
You can try switching to water at night, to wean him off the milk, but if you're still nursing, it's going to be near impossible to avoid those night time feedings. He's growing like crazy at that age too, so who's to say he's not hungry? Or teething and needing some comfort??
Good luck!

Hi S.,
put a little cereal into your baby milk on the 1st waking. Your baby should sleep better throught the night.
Or....
Feed your baby around 8 to 9pm a jar of your baby favorite food then your child will sleep very well.

9 months.... try 18 months! My little Alyssa actually stopped crying and said ba ba last night. The 2nd time she woke up was because she wanted another one. At least she was polite enough to say hi to daddy when he got up to get it for her.

I hope the mommy's can help you and I both!
