Put the shower on before bed and let it steam up the bathroom. Sit in the bathroom in the steam for a little bit. That is what they suggested for my daughter. It also helps for chest congestion.
I have used that suction thing to get the boogies out but she won't sit still and even when her dad helps I'm so afraid she's going to jump and it will go up her nose and hurt her. For the last three nights I have been up every hour with her and last night was every 1/2 hour and I am so tired I am starting to feel sick to my stomach and all I wanna do is cry. Please give me some advice on what else I can do!
Thank you Gamma for the advise. The blanket was great! Her dad isn't here right now but I wrapped her up and did a great job of clearing her nose without hurting her. This is a life saver!

You are the grown up, your child is going to get sicker and sicker if you don't buck up.
Pick up your child, pick up a large towel or small blanket. Wrap that child up like a burrito with their arms inside. Lay them down on top of a changing table, chest of drawers, something comfortable to you. Have hubby hold her down and YOU cradle her head in the are you are not dominate in. Like when I am doing this to the kids I am right handed so I hold their head in the crook of my arm to stabilize it. I surround his/her head with that hand on the side of their face. I use that hand to keep them from moving their head side to side. I use my right hand to work the suction device. I hold one nostril closed with the left hand and push all the air out of the suction device, stick it in the open nostril, let it slowly fill with snot.
If you are holding their head stable and hubby is holding her head stable this is a very easy thing to learn to do and get done.
It would be better to hold her down in a wrapped up blanket and get the snot out than for her to keep sucking that down into her lungs and stomach so she can get an infection and start coughing it up or get pneumonia.
Figure this out. She needs you to get the snot out of her sinuses so she will get better. She cannot be allowed to win this battle. I
I feel your pain, my one yr old is going through the same thing and has had us up during the night too. Saline solution is great too to flush everything out. Also baby chest rub is great and they make a plug in so the baby can breath ____@____.com luck and i hope she is better soon and you get some rest!!
We used to use a humidifier and a pediacare gentle vapors plug in.
I've always used the suction thing when she's laying down for a diaper change. I tightly cradle her head with one arm, but my other arm with the sucker over her arms and just do it - quick & deep and it's over. She HATES IT.
Also, if she really is crying like she's miserable, take her to the doctor. Many colds with nasal drainage turn into ear infections which are pretty miserable, especially at bedtime when the fluid drains into their sinuses and ears.
My Pediatrician said, that per the nose suction, be careful not to use it too much, because it can abrade the inner nose and cause pain.
But sure, they have a runny nose. But at the same time, their inner nose is very delicate and the nose suction can abrade it.
take your baby to the Doctor.
Elevate the mattress a little, it may help. Also, maybe have her checked she could have an ear infection. Not all babies get a fever with ear infections, so I would get her checked out. And use saline that will help thin the mucus, you can use that numerous times of the day. I would do it every diaper change. Good luck!!
We use Benadryl to dry them up and helps them sleep. Officially its not recommended for infants. Husband is M.D. and calculates a correct does. It works for us. I'm done with booger suckers, as far as I'm concerned they are worthless.
