8 Year Old Party -- Girl

I am trying to figure out what to do for my daughter's bday. I thought bowling, but 1 1/2 hour or maybe 2 hour is just not enough to me. The invite would go out to about 20 kids, so I anticipate maybe 12-15 would come. I would rather not do anything at home because it's just too much. Any ideas of fun stuff in the Maryland area? -- Upper Marlboro, Bowie, Waldorf....I'm open to where ever.

What can I do next?

Have you ever considered a spa party or makeover party? Perhaps in a hotel suite or conference room. If you need further information, feel free to contact me.

Hi, If your daughter and her friends can roller skate, a skating party can be a lot of fun. There's a roller rink in Crofton on Rt 301 that does birthday parties. Another idea is a swimming party - you can have one at an indoor pool or outdoor (you would have to find one that can accomodate a party in terms of lifeguards). Or, maybe a "crafting" party at Michaels craft store; my daughter attended one where they made a "box" they decorated themselves and can be used for many different things - but they will have different crafts to choose from (My daughter uses her box to store misc. things and she loves it!) Just a few ideas...hope you find something and have fun!!

P.S. two hours for these types of parties is pretty typical and the kids love them and don't realize that it's only been two hours!

If you're on a limited budget and your daughter likes crafts, I'd try AC Moore (Michael's no longer hosts birthday parties as a corporate policy that changed while I was planning my son's party). Very economical since the room rental is only about $30 and then you pay per child for the craft you choose.

Try the Family Place in Waldorf. Just left a party there (Saturday, May 31) and had a great time. The URL is www.familyplacetoplay. Good luck in your search. --T.
