hello and thank you for any advice! i am now eight months pregnant and i am experiencing rather intense vaginal itching. it is external and i do not have any foul discharge like a yeast infection. i told my dr about it and she prescribed a 3 day otc treatment cream that did not make it go away. i also tried vagisil and that did not help. the creams temporarily stop the itching but it keeps coming back. it also burns from scratching! im not sure what is the cause of this and i was wondering if anyone else had experienced it. this is my second child and i really do not remember having this with the first pregnancy. i will mention it to my dr again but i was hoping maybe someone else might have some advice for me. i already am not sleeping with underwear and wear cotton undies. thank you for your time and help!

I had the same thing happen with my 2nd and third. I would rub on some baby oil when it got super bad. Also try to rinse down there, with some diluted vinegar. (50% should work ok)

It always took the sting and itch out for a little while. Other than that, I don't know what to say. I never got an answer either (it wasn't an infection), and it went away after birth.

Sounds like yeast to me Renew Life makes a real good probiotic for vaginal yeast. plus stay away from sugar and yeast foods as it will feed it. L.

Hi J.,

I had this same problem throughout my pregnancy with my second (don't know if that matters.) It was excruciating. Nothing the Dr prescribed worked. It was so bad that I took a bath three times a day or put a soothing towel down there just for some comfort and relief. If I can be graphic, sometime I felt like getting a rake just to stratch for some relief. That's how bad it was. My Dr said it will not stop until I gave birth, and I kid you not after my lil baby girl came out of there, all was back to normal. I would not wish that on anyone.

I hope you find some ways to help get relief.

Yogurt directly applied can help with some itches. You might want to try Aveeno 100% Colloidal Oatmeal Bath soak. Oatmeal is very soothing for irritated skin.

Try using plain yogurt to soothe your discomfort.

Sounds like yeast..I would recommend puting plain yogurt on yourself, so works great for soothing and has the nessecary properties for healing. Also stay away from sugar is it feeds it. Sugar make a bigger baby too in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy. EAT yogurt as the good bateria you need for intestine, esophugus, vagina to stay healthy, if you can eat the plain that's best but maybe DanActive Immunity drinks will help but not much because of the sugar.
I've been there and have learned! It works!

I had this problem too (pretty much all 9 months) but it got worse at the end. I think it was just that the preg. hormones made my discharge into an irritant. The only way to find relief was to wipe often with a wet washcloth. When it would get really irritated, I would clean and dry the area and then apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to protect the skin from more wetness. In both of my pregnacies, it went away right after delivery. hth

Yogurt for itching, up the probiotics, and a garlic clove inserted as a suppository at bedtime for a couple nights.

HTH!

I have never dealt with this...but just wanted to suggest, how would a type of diaper rash cream work with it? Have you tried it? It may be a stupid idea, but I have been having problems with my 6 year olds bowel movements, and when she is stinging, itchy, or just hurting there, I put Aveeno diaper rash on her and it helps her a lot. I know different situations, different ages, but I think if I were in your shoes I would be desperate to try just about anything! Hope you are able to find something that helps.

Have you considered your diet? Are you eating something that is causing this reaction? Keep a journal and try to remember if you've added anything new, even new soap or detergent or lotion or sprays? Could be an allergic reaction. Also, are you drinking enough water to flush your system? Ask Dr. about cranberry juice and yogurt in your diet. That might help some.

I second the suggestion about the possibility that it's excema. Whether it's excema or a yeast infection, stop using soap! Here's a somewhat amusing and mostly helpful (though a little off the wall) page on curing a yeast infection without meds. https://www.msu.edu/~eisthen/yeast/

I would suggest that you go in and see your doctor! It sounds like it might be yeast...altho you don't have a discharge! If it isn't that, it's something, and worth a trip to see the doc!
Good Luck!

I had the same thing, my doctor was able to give me an antibiotic. Unfortunately there are only a few creams and antibiotics that you can use. Ask your doctor about it first. I also increased my water intake. Good Luck!

I had the same problem, only I was only 2-1/2 months along. I tried the 3-day OTC stuff but within days I was back to itching like crazy. Then I read online that the 3-day treatment rarely works when you're pregnant. It said, unfortunately, to use the 7-day treatment. UGH! But it worked and so far no recurrence. I also read to blow-dry "down there" after a shower and I've found that to work too as well as sleeping without underwear. Hope this helps!

i had this ad you have to not scratch it and put something cold there instead. like a small bag of frozen peas. this helps it not itch.

It very well could still be a yeast infection. I'm surprised your doctor did not culture to find out what it is. I have had recurring yeast infections my whole pregnancy (also 8 mos along now) with none of the common discharge symptoms, just plain ol' severe itching. I would ask again and make sure they culture.
