Just give it time :) if you baby's like mine, in 2 weeks you'll have a tooth. If he's like me, he'll have them in a couple months. (my son also seemed to be teething forever!)
My 8 month old son has been what I thought was teething since he was 3 months old and I kept thinking any day he's going to be getting a tooth, but none yet. I know my daughter by this age had 2 bottom teeth and 2 top teeth. I just wanted to know if I should be concerned, or just give it time?
I just want to say Thank You so much to all the Mom's who replied it helped so much that others have gone through this, it really helped me not to worry so much. Well my little guy actually has 2 teeth now, one came in 2 weeks ago and another one just came in today. Thanks again for all the great input.

Hi B.-
I had the same issues with my son....he was drooling like crazy aro8und 4 months, but didn't get any until almost 10 months, so I would really try to not worry about it too much! Give it time, I think its different for every child!
K.
Give it time, my son didn't get his frist tooth until he was about 11 mos old (made solid foods a little tough)!
I wouldn't worry - my son didn't get any teeth until 10 months old, and didn't get the top teeth until 13 months. My daughter, on the other hand, got her first tooth at eight months, and my nephew had his first by 4 months. I think they're all on their own schedule!
I was the same way! -Thinking my son was teething since 3 months old but he didn't end up getting his first tooth until he was 13 months! The dr said it was nothing to be concerned about, if he hadn't had any teeth at his next visit they would refer me to a dentist just to make sure they were growing in ok. But really that there wasn't anything to worry about that kids get teeth at different times. Once my son's teeth started coming in, it seemed like they wouldn't stop! It was fast and furious... probably better that way though, get it all over with quickly. lol. anyway, so my advise is to not worry, they'll come when they're ready. :)
I wouldn't be concerned. My daughter didn't get a single tooth until late into her 8th month. Now they keep coming like crazy!

Every child teethes at a different pace. My daughter had six teeth by 7 mos and my son barely two by then. I wouldn't worry and when you take her to her checkups just ask the Dr. Teething symptoms can start way before a tooth pops out. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet at all.
Hi. I also have an 8 month old that has no teeth...not even a sign of a tooth. I've been told that they can get teeth anywhere from 3 months to 12 months old?? I think it's ok that our babies don't have teeth, for now anyway :)
The longer the teeth stay in his head, the stronger they will be when they finally poke through. Yay, cavities will be harder to get, and he'll probably be the only one in the nursing home in his 80s that still has all his own teeth. Celebrate it!
BTW, my DS didn't get a single tooth until he was 14 mos. Now he has them all at 30mos.
I wouldn't worry yet. He has plenty of time. My sister's middle child didn't get her teeth in until she was almost one. My own sons didn't get teeth until their tenth month and then they came in all at once.
Hi! I have a 5 year old daughter and she had a whole mouth full of teeth by the time she was 8 months. I also have a 2 year old son who didnt get his first tooth until he was almost 10 months old. I also thought he was teething at about 3 months. He was cranky and would drool all the time. so give it a little time. He will eventually have a whole mouthfull. They all will probebly try to come in at once! Good luck!
6 mos. is the average age kids start to get teeth. Everyone has their own clock though so some are early some are late. Almost better to be late because the teeth are in the mouth less time to keep sparkly clean. I wouldn't worry too much, my daughter was 10 mos. before her first teeth came in. I am sure you will see teeth in the next few months. If you have a history in your family of missing teeth, that may be something to pay attention to since missing teeth is hereditary.
Don't be concerned! In due time they will come. My 23 month old daughter didn't get her first two teeth until 10 months and then didn't get 2 more until 12 month. Then she didn't get any more until 19th month. But at 19 months she cut 3 molers and 3 other front teeth. A rough month! I was worried at first too, but after talking to a few people, it could be for the better. The reason? Your child's teeth has less time to have food and sugar on them which could make them healthier and stronger.
My daughter seemed to teethe forever, but didn't actually get any teeth until around her first birthday. We were told it was nothing to worry about, and her teeth have come in with no problems.
Hi, B.! My daughter was still toothless on her 1-year birthday! Give it time; he'll get teeth, don't worry. :)
S.
Give him time. My kids didn't get any of their teeth until just before their first birthdays. Keep burshing his gums so he is in the habbit. Before you know it the tooth fairy will be visiting your house.
Wow, if your daughter had teeth at 8 months. That is early. My first didn't get his first tooth until he was 10 months old. I have 7 kids and they usually get their first tooth around 9 or 10 months. My little 9 1/2 month old just got her first tooth about 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't worry. My neice got her first tooth when she was 3 months old and I thought that was so early. The doctor said the later the better because their teeth will be healthier.
generally the longer it takes the better for their teeth, up to a certain point. some teeth go up and down several times, and that process helps, I forgot how, maybe more enamel or calcium, but if she is healthy it may be a good thing. If you are indulging her in soda pop and every sugar item that passes your way at a birthday party then I would be more concerned.
Just a tip for when they do come in... stay away from fruit juice, the sugar rots teeth. I also asked my dentist for fluoride prescriptions after my 3 year old had a tooth that was quite close to being abscessed. He gave me one for my 1 year old too. it depends on the dentist, my sister had to fight to get scripts for her kids, while my dentist was rather willing. And I swore I'd never give my children too much fruit juice, but somehow forgot at that age. Hopefully I save you the same pain.
I too have an 8 month old with NO teeth -- my first had 4 by this time as well. No worries -- my doctor said that the latest he saw was 23 months with no teeth! So, no worries!!!!
But the drool is driving me crazy! :)

It is perfectly normal. Our oldest didnt cut teeth until she was 13 months old....I was sure we would have to have her fitted for little baby dentures!! :) Our second cut teeth at around ten months and our youngest cut his first tooth at seven months. They're all going to be different and we have heard from several people - dentists included - that the longer they wait to cut teeth, the better their teeth are going to be. :)
My daughter was over 12 months when her first tooth finally broke through. She is almost 18 months now and she has 6 teeth. Don't worry about it. :)
Let me tell you my 2 girls didnt get their teeth until they were 12 1/2 months old. At 6 months my oldest was always drooling all the time. Her gums would get red and sometimes swell but nothing. I talked to doctors and they told me that the drooling was from having a lazy tounge and the gum swelling was from sucking on her bottle to hard. Which she did do. I consulted a dentist and he said that every child gets teeth at a different time. If they didnt have teeth by the time that they turn 1 1/2 then it is time to worry. So far my girls have very strong heathly teeth so nothing has came from getting the later. Give it time. Sorry about the spelling.
I have a good friend who's son didn't have any teeth come in until he was nearly 2. She was told by a doctor not to worry about it since every child is different. They did do xrays to make sure he did have baby teeth and eventually he did get his teeth almost all at once it seemed. Her dentist actually told her it's better if their teeth come in later anyway. My daughter was about 10 months when she got her first tooth. I wouldn't get too worked up about it if he's only 8 months. There is no set age and every child is different.
My little guy only had three teeth when he turned two. Now he has a gorgeous smile and they tell me it's very normal. patience is virtue.... :o)
My little guy didn't get his first tooth until almost 10 months. His dr said that some kids are just late and there is nothing to worry about! I also had many people tell me that they later they get teeth the healthier the teeth are!
My oldest had her first teeth come in on her first birthday, my second when he was 14 mo. and my third when he was 15 mo. It's perfectly normal for them to not get teeth until after their first birthday so don't worry, just wait.
Hi B.,
My son got his first tooth at 9 1/2 months and we also thought he was teething WAY sooner than that. Our ped. said that it is also really painful for them when the teeth are coming through the bones not just the gums. poor kids!
My daughter is now 9 months 1 week and just got her first tooth. So, I wouldn't worry about the timing
hope that makes you feel a bit better

My kiddo has been teething off and on since 4 months. He's now 10 1/2 months and still no teeth! I SWEAR one is going to push through any day now, but I've been thinking that for 6 months now. No worries though. For some kids I think it can be well over a year.
I had teeth at 5 months, but not sure about hubby. I don't know how much genetics come into play, or general health, or maybe whether or not baby is breastfeeding...
I know a 14-mo-old who doesn't have any teeth. My daughter got the bottom two teeth at 6-7 months, but at 10 months hasn't gotten any more.
They will come when they are ready
That's not a problem. I have 4 kids and a couple of them didn't have any teeth until they turned 1. Babies start teething at 6 weeks old. The teeth will come up, not break through, and go back down again for quite some time. Just give your boy more time. :-)
My son did not cut his first tooth until after a year old. He was a really tall, big baby, 26 lbs at his one year check up. I mention this because he always looked really old and complete strangers would stop and ask me where his teeth were. Today he is an old looking twelve year old who is still losing teeth and now that is a surprise to some.
I have a 17 month old daughter and she has 2 teeth on bottom 4 teeth on top and then her back 4 teeth she didn't start teething until probably around 7 months and she still hasn't gotten her two other bottom front teeth. Now i thought this was weird so i asked my doctor and she said that the teeth will come eventually no matter what. and I have actually heard that it is good for their teeth to not come in so early, they will have better teeth than if they come in really early. But this is my first and only child so I don't know how true that statement as for a shorter answer I don't think you should have anything to woory about unless she is years old without teeth=)
My old boss's grandson didn't have teeth until he was 18 months old (which is unusual, but just goes to show you that kids get teeth at any age!). I think my daughter was 9 months old. And then my son was 4 months old when he got his teeth. So give it time, he'll get teeth. :)
My first daughter had teeth at 6 months, so I didn't know what was taking my second daughter so long. Finally at 11 months she got her first tooth and by her 1st birthday she had 6 teeth. You can always ask your dr at a well visit but I bet everything's fine.
My daughter did not get her first tooth until she was 14 months. They say this is usually genetic and both my husband and I got our teeth very late. I kept worrying about it and then someone said have you ever seen a kid go to Kindergarten without any teeth. I am sure it is a wives tale but they say the later they get teeth the healthier their teeth will be. Who knows, but just don't stress about it.
Don't worry. I have 4 kids. The first two got their first tooth at 1 year old. My youngest are twins and are almost 15 months old. One has 4 teeth and the other still has none!
T.
Seriously! What is it about other people asking the same question as me and getting tons of responses when I get none??? Yeah. My daughter finally got her two bottom teeth in. But a few months ago I was on here saying the same thing about her at 11 months old. She finally got her two bottom ones in right after her first birthday. My other three kids all had their two tops and bottoms around 6 months, so I was pretty concerned. But they eventually came in. I guess this is one of those "all kids develop differently" kind of things. I'm sure he'll get them in eventually! Good luck.
Hi B.,
None of my daughters had any teeth until they were 10 months. My oldest daughter only had one little tooth poking through on her first birthday! They all have very healthy teeth now and a full set. Keep in mind your son will also probably lose his baby teeth much later also. Oldest mentioned before was in the 2nd grade. Don't worry!
Give it time I have 4 kids my youngest is 7 months she just go her 1st tooth. My oldest child did not get her first tooth till she was 12 months old. So I would not worry quite yet.
I wouldn't be concerend at all my sencond child did not get her first tooth until she was 1. I have herd that the longer it takes for the teeth to come in that the child will have better teeth, so I think it is a good thing.
3 of my 5 kids didn't cut teeth until well after their 1st birthdays - latest at 14 months. It is just fine and a lot nicer if you are still breastfeeding!
It's way too early to be worried. 8 months is the average age for babies to get their 1st tooth. My son didn't get his first one until he was 13 months and he also had "teething" symptoms starting from the time he was 2-3 months old. The dentist told us the later the teeth start coming in, the healthier they usually are. So, just be patient, they will come.
My daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was a little over 9 months. She has tons of teeth now at 18 months.
Totally normal - no worries.
my daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 14 months old... she typically gets them in pairs of two or four teeth... my peds says not to worry unril after they are two... as in, if they don't have all or most of their teeth by then. My daughter will be two in Dec and has almost caught up.
:)
Each of my sons got one tooth in time for their first birthdays. Then their teeth started coming, but it wasn't until they were one. The pediatric dentist we go to said it was slow, but totally in the range of normal, and they were less likely to decay. Enjoy a season of less maintenance! ;)
Perhaps the "teething" symptoms you've been observing are your baby telling you he likes your company and wants to be with you?
My oldest son didn't cut his first tooth until right before his first birthday. I wouldn't worry much until then.
Be glad he has no teeth yet. The longer they take the less time you have to worry about taking care of them, so they do not rot and get cavities.
Hi B.,
Give it time, my son was 9 months before his first teeth come in and some kids are over 1 year.
SarahMM
I have a friend whose daughter started teething at 5 mo., but she didn't get any teeth in until 2 yrs. So I wouldn't worry yet.
My son did the same thing! I could see two little lines where his bottom teeth would be when he was 3 months old, then when he was 6 months old I saw little bumps on his top front teeth, 8 months bumps on the next two out on his top. but still nothing has come threw. He will be 11 months old next week and has gotten ALL 6 teeth in in the past 3 weeks. He was miserable, but now that they are all in I'm guessing it will be a few more months before he gets any others. I would just wait it out. Dont worry there is nothing wrong with your baby! :) they will come in when they are ready.
My first son didn't get any teeth until he was nearly one year old. But he started drooling up a storm and show other signs of teething at 3 months, too. My 11 month old twins also don't have any teeth yet and only started showing teething signs about a month ago. One of my boys has his first tooth about to pop through and he'll be one in three weeks. So I can relate to your worries with late teethers.
Try not to worry about it. Teething is just another one of those things that every child develops on their own schedule.
Hi B.,
First off...all babies develop at different rates, even in the same family...My oldest (now age 18 years) was over 1 year when her first tooth popped through, my second (now age 12) got his first tooth around 7 months, and my baby (now 8 years) got her first tooth just before she was 2 months! So my point is that you shouldn't worry, your little one won't go to kindergarten toothless!
