Hello. My daughter's 7th birthday party is tomorrow evening. We'll have pizza and cake and it's a costume party at our house. I have a small craft fo the 10 kiddos (10 minutes???).. Any other fun ideas for this age to keep them focused. part of me thinks they'll just play for the 2 hrs and don't want too much structure, but would love some ideas should I need them :)
Thank you!

Musical chairs was the first thing that came to mind. You could also have an impromptu "photo booth." Gather some funny hats, scarves, masks, and assorted stuff- sun glasses, props, etc and give them 30 sec or 1 min on a timer and have them get dressed up. Take pictures with an i -phone and email or text them to the parents for the girls to see. Since they are already in a costume you may not even have to supply much. Let them make silly poses, individually and as a group. Have fun! Take lots of pictures at the party, including her with her parents!

I think you need lots of structure at that age. We had a dance party, we downloaded a bunch of disco music and taught moves to YMCA, Everybody Clap Your Hands, Hokey Pokey, Electric Slide, Limbo, Macarena. All the kids liked that because they could move around. You can also make numbers and have a cakewalk (have a different prize rather than a cake).

I don't know what you're doing as a party favor but you could do a caramel apple decorating station that doubles as a take home gift! You could pre-dip the apples in caramel and/or chocolate and then have the kids decorate with nuts, M&Ms, sprinkles, etc.

Otherwise I think a dance party of some kind would be fun.

do you have a wii or game system that you can put on the dance video? our granddaughter loved that. and planning on them "just playing" is a recipe for disaster. have some planned out games / activities or they will just walk and drive you crazy.

They will play if you let them but I prefer to have some things planned. They will love to play any of the following games (or variations of them): Freeze dance, musical chairs, hot potatoe, duck duck goose, scavenger hunt

If you have a theme to her party and invitations, you can change the games above to reflect that theme (either by the music you play or the item you pass as the hot potatoe or the names used instead of duck duck goose.
