My friend's 7 mo old is up every hour and won't sleep through the night. Have any of you ever heard of Dana Obleman and her sleep sense program?

What can I do next?

Could be teething. I use hylands teething tablets. Also might be getting too much sleep during the day.

All babies are different. Some may sleep one hour, two or even six hours before waking. I gave my baby a warm bath and a bottle mixed with rice cereal before putting her to bed and she slept about six to eight hours before waking for another feeding. This is what I recomend. Hope this helps. S. L.

He could be teething. Maybe she should try and give him a little bit of infant tylenol.

No, I haven't heard of the Dana Obleman sleep sense program. But I would suggest making sure baby has a nice bath or wash up. Make sure baby is FULL, maybe try some cereal followed by 4-6 oz of formula before bad. Also, make sure your baby is burning enough energy so he/she will be ready for sleep. Also, try self soothing! It is important that a baby learns to do that. The baby does not have to be picked everytime they make a noise.

Yes. We purchased and read her online book. It is very practical and worked great for us. It was worth the money for us. Her program will very clearly help your friend target what is causing the baby to not sleep and gives you tools to fix it. I also like that she gives a great overview of sleep in babies and the whys behind what works and does not work. Good Luck to your friend!

D.,
I am a mother of three, grandmother of six, and a great grandmother of our Dandy Andy, who is one month old.

On the subject of raising my own babies; knowing that it was a long time ago. However, I do believe that it's all relative; bottom line, it is what helped me produce satisfied, healthy babies.

Even though, it is not the popular way of today, me and many other mothers used a little rice cereal mixed with their formula, following their warm nightly bath, then a soothing massage to their tiny bodies while applying warm baby lotion. I rocked my little one, while they took their bottle with the rice mixture (mixed very well).
This resulted in my babies sleeping restfully; producing a good night sleep for one and all, making the whole family of mommy, daddy and baby happy and more pleasant to live with.

That's my best advice, regardless of what they say today...it worked for me!

K.
