So What Happened?

thank you everyone!!! the girls are going to have so much fun getting their hair, manicures and pedicures done. since all the food has to be done through the venue and i don't like their choices, we will have next door sushi dinner after the party for all the girls and their moms.

Yes, dessert is just fine. However, how about doing a tea party? You could do scones and jams, fresh fruit, and mild tea or punch and serve it on special dishes and linens. Since the girls are dressing up, I bet they would like it. You could also throw in a lesson on manners, talking about how proper young girls behave..

Just a thought. Have fun!

I think the dessert only is fine. I do like for the parents to list "cake will be served" or "pizza and dessert will be served" on the invitation. I hate it when I drop off after having fed my kiddo lunch only to find out that they were having lunch at the party. Of course there is the flip side, you go pick up your kiddo and have dinner plans and find out they've just been fed a big meal. It's just nice to have an idea of what will be served.

Dessert only is fine, but many young kids actually will eat only the cake part of a birthday cake slice, or only the icing....I would have somethng like pretzels, Goldfish crackers, or baby carrots available as well, things you can easily keep around for your family if kids don't use the during the party.

I would make sure there is a little food-like cheese, crackers, fresh fruit etc. and then dessert sounds great~

Yes, it is ok. You only have to serve a meal if your party is held during a time when people would normally eat one, like 11am-1pm. You could do some non-dessert snacks also if you want, but dessert only is totally appropriate for your party.

Have fun!

Dessert only is fine. I would be sure to serve a healthy and attractive option like berries with cream.

If you mean only serving cake, I think that's a bit light. Perhaps add in some cheese and crackers or other salty finger foods. While it's not a meal time, six year olds will probably be hungry!

I would do some finger sandwiches and dessert. 2 - 4 is perfect for just a snack type thing. Hope they have a great time!

Yes! I wish more people would do that. Just serve cake and fruit. The kids won't care or mind.

for that 2-4pm time slot, dessert is a great option. As others have mentioned, you can always serve goodies too....making it a Tea Party menu. :)

It takes about 10 minutes for kids to eat up dessert, what else are you going to do?

Dessert only if fine. My son went to a 2-4 party this past weekend and all they had was cake and ice cream. I figured thats all there would be because of the time, so we fed him lunch before.
