How long did the rash last on your child? Symptoms? My son has been diagnosed with it. Never had a fever. COvers his whole body, and he has had the rash for over 10 days now. He some times says it itches but I rarely see him scratching. This all occured after a few things...1. Iron count was low...2. He got the PCV 13 Vaccine 3. He was put on Vitamins for the low iron.
I truely don't belive the shot itself is causing it, but I thought the rash would be gone if it was ROSEOLA. Anyone else? (we only gave one dose of the Multi Vitamins in case it was something in them) But that was over 8 days ago.)

Wish I could show a picture. Maybe I will use it as my Profile pic?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Took Him to the ER..........they don't know what it is either but told me to give him some steroids and see if it goes away. No tests nothing was done. So I plan on asking my doctor since he is the one who sent me their in the first place......why? He is not seriously ill as far as we can tell but what I want to know is WHY IS NO ONE TAKING ANY TESTS!!! Going to call a Dermatologist in the morning.

Doesn't sound like roseola. Fifths disease can be itchy, sometimes the child never appears ill, the rash can co,e and go for weeks and can get worse when the child is in the sun/gets hot. The rash looks similar my child had both back to back.

Edited: I don't know what that is. It's doesn't look like the rash my oldest had with either illness. It does kind of resemble what my youngest looked like after jhe got his mmr but he also ended up really sick. It also looks similar to the rash he gets when he has an allergic reaction but it's hard to tell with a picture. Is t rough, raised, flat, prickly feeling, etc?

Sure doesn't sound like Roseola. My daugher had it and mainly had a high fever for several days. Once the rash came it was only there for maybe 2 days and was very faint. I actually felt it more than I saw it.

My other daughter recently had a weird rash that lasted at least a week. She had a viral infection. Is there any chance he is having an allergic reaction to something in the vitamins?

it looks like an allergic reaction type of rash. I would go back to the dr and see if they are still thinking its the same thing. It should be gone by now no matter what it is.

I don't think that is roseola. My son had it when he was 2 (I think) and he spiked a high fever around 104 and then had a rough pin point rash all over his body after. I think it lasted at most 3 or 4 days

Go to www.nvic.org to see what kinds of side-effects have been reported for that vaccine. The docs don't always know or tell the whole story. Good luck. D.

PS. Multi-vitamins with iron are poorly absorbed and can actually be dangerous. Contact me if you'd like to have a chart listing iron rich foods. BTW...the best source of dietary iron is to cook in a cast iron pan, even better than beef. Isn't that interesting?

that is not a roseola rash. i would go back to the dr. my daughter had roseola not to long agao and she spiked a high fever out of the blue that lasted for 3-4 days and then the rash came. it can last a few hours to a few days but did not look anything like that at all. high fever is a main sign of roseola and the rash after it breaks. i woud get a second opinion on that.
