Hi All,

My in-laws wedding anniversary party is this Sat. 60years...just amazing....I just have no clue what to get them. There both kind of restricted to thier home. Both had strokes...one minor, one not. What could I get or do for them. They don't want strangers in their home for for cleaning, cooking, etc. Besides they're slowly emptying out their home to downsize. Any clever idea's???? I know I can do gift cards, but really didn't want to go the impersonal way. Thanks for all your thoughts!! Have a great day.... :)

What can I do next?

Yikes….not much time. What about trying to get some photos together from family and friends and make them a photo album. Something they could just browse through and reminisce? We did a DVD of photos for my parents 30th Anniversary with music in the background and it was a REALLY great gift. I am not that savvy when it comes to that, so we had to pay someone and it took a few weeks. But, you may be good at something like that.

Maybe get a copy of their wedding photo and have it blown up. Put it in a frame that all the guests can sign. Mount it on the wall after the part for them.

My grandparents really liked the electronic frame we got them for their 60th. We preloaded it with lots of pictures from their life together over the years, and it automatically scrolls through them. Gathering and scanning the pictures was fun, but it definitely took some serious time. It was a labor of love :-)

Even after my grandmother died and my grandfather transitioned into assisted living and later to a nursing home, that frame went with him and he really enjoyed it.

You could make them a personalized coupon book. You could include things like dinner made by your family, cleaning or yardwork by your family, dinner out with your family.
If you have access, you could make an album/scrapbook or dvd of pictures of them together beginning with their wedding photo. If you do an album, you can leave blank spots in the back for pics of the celebration.

A big trophy for staying together!! ;-)
My Mom is 94, and her favorite gifts from my kids are baked goods. Banana Bread, homemade cookies, muffins ect. I like the electronic picture frame idea, or taking all of their family pictures and having a DVD made for them, telling the story of their dating before marriage, wedding pictures, new baby pics -- down to grandchildren. It might be a little late for the big day but it would be really nice.

Pictures of their grandkids! Create a photo album online for them of your kids (and you and your husband). You can also put pictures of your kids on a mug for them. Pictures are always a wonderful personalized gift.

photo/scrapbook all of their photo collection for them. It will help with the downsizing & create new memories together. Make it a family project.

We did this for my MIL 2 years before she died....lots of good memories!

Not much time, but I would suggest making arrangements for a prof photographer to take some beautiful family photos this summer. You could contact a photographer and have a gift card "framed" inside a frame with a card.

We did this for my grandparents for their 50th. They didn't "need" anything, but loved having someone come to their home (backyard) and take pictures of the ENTIRE clan together! We had a nice family dinner afterwards and the pictures were beautiful.

Our "gift" was the "sitting fee" and 3 enlargements- we all chipped in and then everyone else was on their own to order their enlargements.

How about doing a twist on gift cards? Why not draw or computerize your own gift card(s). You could offer your time or offer to do a particular chore that they can no longer do on their own..this way you don't have to spend any money, they don't have to pay anyone, and you both get to see each other as well..hope it goes well. If you had the time for it, you could do the cooking/cleaning service as part of your gift (where maybe you would hire someone?)

My older moms best gift we got her (she wasn't quite this old, but in her late 60's, as she passed away at 70 years old)...was a subscription to Netflix and my brother somehow helped her with it (I don't even ahve it or do it). But she would find the movies she wanted, make him a list and he did the rest. When her movies came he would come by with them (they lived about 5 miles apart).

She was not a very mobile person, but she loved her old movies!

Sorry, thats all I got....good luck.
