She's 6yrs old, she had diarrhea this morning, and nonstop fever. We're getting a little worried because she's been complaining about pain in her leg... then the leg starts shaking. She has Drs. appt in an hour. Should we really be worried?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your answers! she's doing fine now. Her fever went up to 103 last night, and the Dr. said that there were no signs of seizures. Her fever is gone this am, and she's playing in her princess castle right now. That means she's doing a lot better! :)

5 and 6 year olds are great ages for getting sick they catch so much from other kids. She also could have been bit by something. Just go to the doctors appoint early and wait in the room. I know its terrifying. Please let us know the outcome

strep. strep caused spiking of fever, leg cramping. definitely strep IMO. take her in (won't go away w/out antibiotics), ask for rapid strep test and the 48 hrs as well. there is a slow growing strep going in our area. the rapid tests comes back negative. only the 48 hrs one shows positive

She could have a pinched nerve in her leg. It would hurt & depending on the nerve, it may cause spasms or twitching. The diarrhea & fever may be something totally unrelated. I think it's a good thing, though, that you got her in the doc today to be sure. Good luck P.!

My son's whole body twitched when he had a high fever of about 103 to 104. The dr. told us it was his body's way of trying to fight off the fever/infection whatever was happening. It also turned out I was not giving him the right dosage of Tylenol to bring the fever down quick enough, once the fever was down, the twitching stopped.

Good luck
