6 Year Old Molars

Tylenol does very little for pain, it is best for fevers - due to concerns over rye syndrome related to aspirin. Motrin is a better pain reliever. My daughter LOVES the taste of the tylenol too, and I have had those same concerns that she asks for it b/c it tastes good. Luckily, she hasn't had much pain getting the 6yo molars. Try motrin, and maybe pick one that is not his favorite flavor (if they offer more than one).

I'm not sure what to tell you. My second child is getting his too and I would never have known had the dentist not told me after his cleaning last month.

My 8 year old never complained either, and she is actually the one I would have expected to hear from!! ;)

my son's 6 year molars were painful for months. And he never complains about being sick or anything hurting him.

Be careful with the Tylenol since it's been proven to cause liver damage if given too much. Motrin is much better for tooth pain. Also give him orajel or ambesol. Lots of popcicles too! It won't last much longer. Once they break through he should be ok.

Give him gum to chew, its like a teething ring for nig kids and helps the teeth break thru. Also switch to a flavor of pain relief he doesnt like.

I am currently having the same problem right now. I was so overwhelmed by her teething I took her to the ER. They gave me a topical gel and tylenol w/ Codeine. She has been suffering with this for about two weeks now and the tooth isn't even remotely near commin through all the way. My daughter also loves the bubble gum flavored Motrin and tylenol. I can tell if she's hurtin for real when I offer the tylenol w/ Codeine and she wants the bubblegum flavored stuff instead. The dentist made sure the teeth were coming in correctly by xray and said it could take all the way up to a month of this...

Totally off the subject but I just saw my brother this weekend and he is a dentist. He said that once the six year old molars come in, get your child's teeth sealed. It realy helps prevent cavities!!

Teething pain is very painful.. unfortunatly every child gets it to different degrees. My suggestion is alt between tylenol/motrin but not to overdue it try Humpreys teething tablets as well as over the counter orajel.. and see if that helps.. if he is complaining consistently you might want to just have his ears checked as sometimes both can be related!

I just took my soon to be 6 1/2 turning 7 in August. I was also told that she is getting her 6 year old molars. However, my daughter is not showing any signs of pain. Everyone is different. I would not give him so much tylenol.
