My six month old daughter sleeps great at night in her crib but won't nap there during the day! She cries and I worried if I force the issue it will ruin her nights! She only naps in her swing which I have to first rock her to sleep. She will fall asleep on her own at night and will sleep for 10 to 11 hours straight thru! Naps r a struggle. She only sleeps for a half hour and then I have to rock her again. How do I make the transition to the crib! I'm can't stand to hear her cry so the cry it out method is probably not an option! Will she get her days and nights confused? Some people say to not mess with the naps since she is sleeping thru the night! I never feel like she gets rested from her naps. Sorry I'm all over the place...just at a loss on what to do? Make a change or stick with what I'm doing!

What can I do next?

I had trouble with both my boys around 4-6 months. I found three things: 1) I was missing sleep cues and they were PAST needing a nap; 2) they needed black-out shades so the room was dark; 3) "The Baby Whisperer" had compassionate alternatives to CIO that said respond every time baby cries. It takes some work, but you'll get back to good naps:)

As long as she's sleeping through the night, life is good. Don't sweat the naps.

I never put my kids down for naps in their cribs. I used their pack n play or when they got older, they slept on the couch or the floor in the family room. I did not keep quiet while they were napping. Both still sleep through anything.

Try different places to find what works for her.

Sometimes, babies get all the sleep they need at night and don't need anything but "cat naps" during the day. My oldest was like that. He would sleep at night and then only take 2 or 3 - 20 minute naps during the day. My daughters, however, didn't sleep as long at night, but took much longer naps during the day.

Not every baby is "by the book". Go with her cues and let her sleep when she wants to, unless it starts to interfere with night time.

My son took naps in his swing until he was 1 1/2. We actually went through a motor because the motor died on his swing. He slept in it that much during the day. He slept in his bed at night. Like people have said find a place they can sleep during the day that they like. Good luck!

My DD used to hate napping in her crib, she wanted her bouncy chair. I would let her fall asleep in it, then move her to the crib. I started putting her in more and more awake.. Now she will fall asleep if I put her in without a fuss.

I like that answer about who cares where baby sleeps! As long as baby sleeps! Just try diffrent things until one works. This baby thing is trial and error and they dont come with a manual. They are all so diffrent. My 3 kids sleeped in diffrent places. My oldest daughter loved the swing and her stoller, My older son, loved the stroller. My youngest slept anywhere at any time. Good luck!

My friend said it best. "Who cares where baby sleeps, as long as baby sleeps." I wouldn't worry about her getting her days and nights mixed up. After those first few weeks home, I haven't really found that to be true. My neice and my son both slept in their infant carrier (even after they stopped riding in them in the car.) I know lots of babies who slept in their swings. Just try a few different ways until you find something that works.

I would try using some padding in a pack 'n play to make it comfy and try that. Also, making the room dark and having a fan on for white noise would help. Good luck.
