My 6 month old has little red bumps on the outside of his knees and elbows. They don't seem to bother him and he does not have any other symptoms. I noticed them after I took off his pj's today. They don't look dry or like pimples. Just like little red dots. I would say heat rash but they are on the outside of his knees and elbows. I've never seen it before. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this before. Not sure if I should worry or take him in because I know they get a multitude of skin rashes and stuff that just goes away on their own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Do they look like maybe ant bites. I could be wrong. If it doesnt look like a rash. Maybe its the laundry deterget you use. I know my sons are very sensitive to laundry detergents and most soap products.

B.,
I would call the nurse hot line just to see what they say as a start. I know that my six year old around this time gets tiny bumps and red spots on her legs and arms like she is allergic to all the pollen and stuff in the air. You said they were on his knees and elbows so I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with his activity or clothing. Did you happen to use a different detergent or if the clothes covered his knees and elbows were the seams where the spots are? Clothing could just bother his knees and elbows. My six month old has this problem with the feet in her pajamas, the seams bother her toes. Also, I was thinking maybe if he is getting up on his knees or perhaps when he is on his belly the clothing or floor that you have him on may be rubbing. Honestly to me it sounds like the skin was just aggitated since it is only on the elbows and knees and wouldn't worry to much. I would check for a fever and make sure it is not spreading though and would make sure to have a phone consult to rule out anything since it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Good luck!

Does he still have them? I think you wrote this in the caterpillar fur season which causes bumps, rash and irritation.

perhaps an allergic reaction?

have you used any new soaps? My daughter got something similar while we were on vacation. When I stopped using the hotel towels on her ( dried her with a blanket from home) they went away.

I would take the kiddo in though to be sure.
