Yesterday my daughter came home from her grandmas with a stomache ache. When she got home she took her bath and got ready for bed. When she was getting ready she ran to the bathroom and threw up. We gave her some tylenol and water and after she didnt throw up about 10mins she went to bed. She slept all night and didnt get sick. Today she went to my grandmas and seemed to be acting normal. She didnt quite eat a lot but she ate marshmellows, toast, took a nap then ate a little chicken noodle soup and then 2 apples. I picked her up and when asked by my grandma if her tummy hurt she said no but when I ask the answer is always yes. She had one bowel movement at my grandmas and it was a greenish diareah. We came home and ate pancakes and she had another bowel movement (before we ate) and it was clear mucosy looking stuff. She is acting normal no fever nothing else. She still says her tummy hurts should I be worried or is this a bug that will pass in the next couple of days?

What can I do next?

The biggest indication to ME of how sick my kids are is how they're acting. If my child is lethargic and doesn't want to move off the couch, then they're *sick*. If they're playing like normal, but having some "issues", then I just treat the symptoms and it's always passed in a few days.

I'd recommend the BRATT diet for your daughter until her bm's go back to normal. That's Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea and Toast. Make sure the rice and toast are white (easier to digest because they're not "whole") and don't add anything to them like soya sauce, butter, etc. I will add a tiny smear of peanut butter to my kid's toast, but that's just so it's not SUPER hard. Also, make sure she's getting plenty of fluids. I give mine mint tea and water....nothing acidic like apple juice though.

If she's still complaining of a tummy ache and having diarrhea, then I'd take her in by the end of the week.

I once had a Provider tell me that Strep was the number one cause of tummy pain in kids...I always keep that in the back of my head when it persists. Not sure if causes a change in the stools. Like other responders could just be a GI virus. Besides the BRATT diet for vomiting and diarrhea my other rule is no dairy when their tummy hurts, harder to digest. Check in with the Pediatrician just to reassure yourself! Hope she feels better soon!

It's a stomach but, it has hit the whole nation I think. Everyone has talked about it. This one seems to be taking as long as a week to be totally back to normal, not vomiting the whole time, but stomach just not totally great. I would tell grandma to stay away from sugary things and stick with some pretty bland and basic things she'll eat. If she's still having loose bowel movements than stay clear of fiber (too much fruit) as well.

sounds like a stomach bug to me, if they have green diarrhea its pretty much that normally, just make sure she doesn't throw up anymore if she continue to vomit then you might want to get her a checkup, or if the diarrhea continues for more than 3 days

Definitely sounds like a stomach bug....they can come and go over the course of a few days. Just keep an eye...she should feel better soon :)

We have a massive stomach bug going around our school. One minute you are about to die from cramps and the next minuet you are totally fine. You might be fine for a day and then wham stomach issues again. It takes about 4-5 days to get over it. Our nurse calls it the stomach flu.
