My 4 year old daughter loves corn, yet after she eats it, it never show up in her poop. Should we be concerned?
I'm not overly concerned about her having corn in her poop, I just realized the other day when I was wiping her that her poop never seems to have corn in it after she eats corn and then poops. I was just curious
Only the outer part (the "shell") of the kernel, is very hard to digest. That simply won't always be visible in the poop. I mean, unless you are breaking the turd a part...you can't see what is contained.
No, there is no reason to be concerned. Unless, you are dissecting her poop. Then, I would be concerned.
That would be because she's digesting the corn.
When it shows up in your poop, you're NOT digesting it. That's concerning. Not the other way around.
Lol... Have to say, though, when I read your title, my first thought was : I don't eat corn in poop, either. ;)
Well, I kind of understand your post, apologizes to Catwalk. The reason is that I saw corn in my son's poop and freaked out. I called the ped nurse and she explained that it didn't digest, and that's why it was in the poop. Now, he was less than a year old, and I was changing his diapers. Your daughter, on the other hand, is 4 years old. Is she not potty trained? If you are still changing her diapers, then you would see whether or not there is corn. But if you're looking in the toilet, you actually wouldn't see it at all. Understand what I'm saying? It could be there, and you woudln't know it.
Either way, you could ask the ped about it.

BUT...
I cannot remember 'scrutinizing' any kiddos poo...unless there was another reason of concern to 'inspect' it.
Is there an additional concern?
If not...IMO...allow her to flush away.
