Hello, our car broke down and it is not worth fixing. Our old car was a suburu legacy and had about 250,000 miles on it. As you can see we drive our cars forever. So we have no choice, we need to buy a new-used car. Looking for 4 wheel drive, I have to get to work in the snow and bad weather. I love suburu, however want to stay away from a wagon type car. The Suburu SUV's are too expensive, even the used models.
Does anyone have a kia sportage - I found one that looks like a good deal.
I also found a nice Jeep Patriot.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Don't buy a Kia. As a Kia Sedona owner, they are nothing but cheap junk that constantly need to be fixed. You get what you pay for...
What about a Honda CR-V? We had one years ago and it was a super vehicle. Really reliable, easy to maintain.
love the jeep patriot... my fiances mom drives a hyundai santa fe thats a few years old and she loves it, it definaltey has no problem getting through snow either
KIA stands for Killed In Action...don’t buy it. My coworker ended up donating her POC car after 4 years of nothing but repairs (from the transmission to the engine) the warranty does not cover what is says (they say it is the owners fault of how they drive!)
All Chrysler products are not high quality products.
Whatever you buy, make sure you run a carfax report and purchase a extended warranty!
IMO Ford is the way to go…I love my Explorer! After 8 years no problems.
I absolutely love my Jeep Liberty (anniversary edition)....It has all of the upgrades & luxury stuff inside, yet the outside is a bit rugged & it's great in the snow. I got a good deal on it (new) when the new edition came out.
My sister just got a used Toyota RAV 4 and likes it and it's 4WD. They are rated well with consumers report I think.
We have an Expedition, and I know you aren't looking for something that large, but maybe the Ford Edge (the smaller SUV)? We've had our SUV for more than 10 years and have almost 200,000 miles on it. We have never had a major mechanical problem with it, ever. It has been the best car we've ever owned. My husband was so impressed that he bought a Ford F-150 for his work truck (he had been a die-hard Chevy guy for years). He has 150,000 miles on his truck, and not a single issue with it yet, either. Ford trucks run forever, and were designed and built here, not overseas. Why not buy American if you can? Just a thought! Good luck with your car shopping!
Just got a 2013 Honda Pilot. Usd ones were not that much less. Interest on new is o.9%. Used interest is much more. Got the vottom line and love it. Has everything I need. Do not need or want DVD player or navigation. Not worth the money.
I owned a CRV and loved it. I now have a Mercury Mariner and love it. I have had it since 2006 and it has about 110,000 miles. For both cars the only thing I've had to buy were batteries and tires plus the regular maintance. I plan to buy a Ford Escape or a CRV next because I love both brands. Good luck with your decision.
I second the CRV. I loved mine, it rode wonderfully and got great gas mileage. The only reason I don't have it anymore is I had twins, so now it won't fit three car seats across the back. However, once the kids get out of car seats, I'm going back to the CRV. I had a 2008 with all the bells and whistles and got it for $30K new including all the taxes and fees. When I traded it in in 2011, I got $19K for it. In 3 years I only had basic maintance to pay for, no problems. My Uncle just bought the Patriot and so far is very happy with it as well.
