Sounds like a growth spurt to me. :)
I think it's unrealistic to expect a 4 month old to sleep completely through the night anyways.
I need ideas... my baby started sleeping through the night at 2&1/2 months and all was good with the world. About 2 weeks ago he had a cold and woke up a couple of times in the night and now has gone back to getting up twice a night. Sometimes he has rolled over and is "stuck" but when I try to re-position him he decides he is hungry. He will usually go back to sleep after the bottle no problem but he isn't sleeping his usual 7-8 hours. Any ideas on how to get him back on track? Any suggestions will help. Thanks!

I remember my daughter sleeping 10-11 hours at that age, then suddenly start waking in the night again. Anytime she was about to accomplish a new milestone she had more fitful sleep. Then, after a few nights she would get back to routine. It's important to keep the same schedule during the day, day to day, as much as possible. That signals baby what comes next, and it's very comforting as well.
When my kids were little and would get sick the only thing that worked to get them back to sleeping at night was a warm bath and a bottle with a little cereal. After a few days of this everything would be back to normal at my house ...I hope everything works out for you!
I also have a baby; 5 months old. She has just now started "teasing" me with the occasional night's sleep.
She hasn't ever really slept through the night for any extended period of time. My first baby (who is now 3 1/2) was sleeping through the night at about a month old, but did have those periods of wakefulness on and off throughout the first year. They are just phases. Your little one might start sleeping through the night again tonight for several weeks/months, but then start waking up again a few nights in a row. (or longer) Trust me, they do pass. I just keep telling myself this, as well. I would just like 6-7 hours of sleep straight... ;-)
I think at 4 months it is very reasonable to think that your baby can sleep through the night. 6-8 hours at least. I would consider "cluster feeding" if you are not doing so already. I think this really helps and if he is going through a growth spurt it would help hold him over even longer. And you can adjust the clusters to your bed time.
