Yes my 3rd I started showing in my first month...other 2 not really until 5 months...I thought twins at first too with 3rd...but only 1 :)
I am 17 1/2 weeks with pregnancy 5 but 3rd pregnancy that has gone past 7 weeks. Up until a week ago, I was very little with only a very small bump. In the last week my belly has doubled in size. On Tuesday/Wednesday, people couldn't tell I was pregnant but today (4 days later) people can definitely tell. I asked my friend I saw on both Tuesday and Wednesday and again today and she has seen a HUGE difference in my belly size. So far, my midwife has only found one heartbeat but I know it is very easy to miss a second heartbeat. I did have a ultrasound at 6 weeks to make sure the fetus was in the correct place and it was. The tech only noticed one dot though. I don't think a tech would miss two babies at 6 weeks... could they? For you third time pregnant moms, did you go from nothing to... WHOA... over night...?
Thank you everyone. My midwife says she thinks it's just because it's my third pregnancy but she will be extra careful to check for a second heartbeat next appointment just in case. With both of our other children I didn't start "showing" where people could tell until I was at least 6 months pregnant so this was very surprising to me. I've heard so many women say you show quicker with each pregnancy but that wasn't true for our second child and with this third I just wasn't showing until... WHOA!... the other day. :-) Thanks again.

Yeah, that happened to me too. I remember showing a lot earlier even with the 2nd, so by number 3 my body was like, "ok we know what's going on here, let's just flop out already!" Plus, I got pregnant with #3 when #2 was only 13 months old. Just continue to eat well and exercise, and even though you get bigger faster is doesn't mean that you'll get bigger than with your other 2. I gained about the same, 31-33 lbs with all mine. Congrats!!!
YES! I thought for sure my third was twins with the way my belly seemed to "pop" overnight. Its all those muscles and ligaments knowing how to stretch already and just doing what they know how to do! I have friends with 4 children and they saw they start showing sooner with the 4th. Its totally normal. The techs and Docs wont be able to miss a second baby in there if you have another ultrasound being this far along. I slowed down in my growing bump at around 8 months and then grew from 9months and on! Hang in there momma!
I've had 2 and with my first I did that within a week. I was on vacation and from the beginning to the end it was different.
I would need a professional opinion. It most likely just the third pregnancy. What we can't know is if there is a sudden dramatic increase in amneotic fluid which can signal a problem. Talk to a doctor ASAP.
I agree with Amber.....the body is so much more stretched out and it only takes a short amount of time to go from nothing to looking very pregnant. I am sure you still have one. The body does some strange things the more you have.
I am only on number 2 and I popped BIG TIME over night. I couldn't believe how I went from nothing to "holy smokes" in a matter of an evening. I think it is just because your muscles know what to do now! I am 18 plus weeks right now and think I look like I did when I was about 24 weeks pregnant the first time!
I have had 3 singletons and one set of twins. Your HCG will almost double every day with twins and many others hormones are way higher as well which is tested in blood and urine. They would see this at doctor and it is not "easy" to miss a second heartbeat. It happens but the fetus's are both in the uterus and right next to each other, so you see one, you see the other. I bet what happened was your baby was more vertical or against your back or probably got too big to snuggley sit inside your pelvis and now is a little above it, changed positions, etc. Babies don't grow overnight even though we may feel like they do. Enjoy your pregnancy and I wouldn't go buying 2 of everything just yet. Congratulations!!
With my second baby, my students started guessing I was pregnant when I was only 9 weeks along (and at that point, I had no weight gain and no 'symptoms' besides my belly). My OB/GYN thought there was a good chance of twins or wrong due date, but it turns out I just had lots of amniotic fluid and weak muscles / ligaments.
I am pregnant with #3. I don't remember an "overnight" change, just that you show alot earlier. Good luck!
