I am a proud mommy to a precious 4 year old son and beautiful 8 month old baby girl. My first pregnancy was TOUGH- bedrest on 2 separate occassions, severe preeclampsia at 33 weeks with resulted in more bedrest and an emergency c-section at 37 weeks. 2nd pregnancy- other than severe nausea was perfect! No preeclampsia- praise God. My husband and I felt so blessed with a boy and a girl and thought we were done. He still thinks that....however, something has been nudging at me lately....wondering if we should try for #3. I am 37. By no means do I think age 37 or 38 is too old to have a baby. However, my hesitation would be because I DID suffer from preeclampsia in the 1st pregnancy (not the second, however). I am just wondering how many of you moms out there had P.E. the 1st round and never had it again....also, I would be age 38 or 39 when I delivered....risks??? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Talk to your doctor. I know for me at age 32, that was it. It was too tough anymore. Nothing went wrong, but it was too physically tough in pregnancy. We had 5 close together.

I always said 34 would be my limit because the risks go up quite a bit for mother and baby. So you have to decide what's best for you.

I would just go with your doctor's recommendations. He/she knows your personal information details that should decide for you. Best of luck!

I had P.E with my 2nd child but not with my 1st or my 3rd.
So, it is possible you will be OK.

My first was at 33, 2nd 36 and 3rd at 38. No problems with my kids, no problems with the pregnancies.

It is very common to have PE in a first pregnancy and not in subsequent pregnancies. That happened to me, PE with the first, 120/80 the day of delivery with my second. Anything under 40 really isn't even considered an "older" mom these days. You had a baby at 36, right? And that went better than the one at 32, right? I think you will do great :)
