That sounds like what labor felt like to me. Like one of the other moms here said happened to her, I had sensations like this for a while and then suddenly my water broke, and it wasn't til after that that I realized I had actually been having contractions. To me it felt like the baby was trying to stand up inside my uterus or something; it wasn't too painful before my water broke, but it was certainly very uncomfortable! Good luck with that little one, he or she will be here soon!! :)

My guess is that your baby has dropped to get ready for delivery and it is all of a sudden putting pressure in places that havent been pushed on up until now. Its called lightening and is totally normal. Also if you are 39 weeks you must be ready to pop so your body has taken a 9 month butt kickin and you are just sore. Good Luck and Congrats new Momma

Welcome to the "end game" of pregnancy. I spent my last two weeks feeling just as you've described, and I am convinced that it's God's way of making us willing to undergo labor just to get our bodies back. :-) Seriously for a moment... it means that your baby is engaged in your pelvis and ready to go. Both of mine got in there and sat there for awhile before labor finally kicked in. I noticed that several other moms have said that this is how labor began for them - at 39 weeks it's possible that your little one is done cooking and ready to enter the wider world.

Sounds like baby is engaged in your hips, getting ready for it's appearance! Congratulations! With only a weekish left you are doing perfectly in that department. Lots of women have this happen too soon and go on bed rest. Be nice to your self and know that soon the hip pain will end and having your heart walk around outside you forever, will begin!

I think it is a sign that you are getting ready to deliver this cute little baby. Congratulations! I am almost there myself (almost 38 weeks ) and I wish I had those pains already, can't wait to see my boy and to be NOT pregnant LOL!

Could you be in labor?? Call your Labor and Delievery department. I know they might ask you to take a very warm shower, it might help you go into a full blown labor.

It just means your good and pregnant girlfriend. Your hips are spreading the entire time you are pregnant to make room for the baby to come out so discomfort just goes with the program. I had SO much pain with all 5 of my pregnancies and it just got worse and worse the closer I came to delivery. Just hang tight, it is almost over.

I did find some comfort with those heating pads you warm in the microwave. You don't want your body heat to go way up because it is dangerous for the baby but those heating pads that you warm only stay hot for a short while and they sure help you feel a bit of comfort!

Good luck!

Do you have an exercise ball sitting on one of those opens up your hips and may bring a little comfort. Its just proof that your baby is sitting in your pelvis ready to go!! Also take comfort in knowing that your little one is almost here!!

It means your body is getting ready for the birth.
You don't have long to go now.
I went to see the doctor the day after my due date and he told me to go to the hospital the next morning to be induced.
I couldn't eat that night and I couldn't sleep. My back hurt so bad I thought I was going to die. It really hurt. At 5 the next morning, my water broke. I had been in labor and didn't even realize it.
Even if you're not in labor yet, that discomfort is letting you know your body is limbering up and your bones and muscles are getting ready to get that baby out.

PLEASE let us know when your baby arrives, okay?

Best wishes to you!!!!

It could be labor. I had no pain at all with my labors. I didnt even know the squeezing in my belly was a contraction lol. My mom told me I was having contractions. I had no pain at all until oh a half hour before my last one was born. I ended up having a epidural with my twins cause I got scared but before that I had no pain either.
