Lately I have been feeling some pain in my ribs...like I got kicked by a horse or something!! I am not huge...I only weigh 135lbs so what could be causing this? Just a cramp for space maybe???

What can I do next?

My second was fond of my ribs. It's just the baby moving around and trying to stretch. Nothing to worry about imo.

I had that quite a bit and while i was exceptionally large (TWINS!!) It started pretty early. I was told it was ligaments stretching and cramped space.

Yep, sometimes they can lay on nerves also that get really uncomfy. With both my pregnancies I found the last 4-5 wks just went down hill, everything was sore and achy. I hope this time goes by quickly and you are holding your precious baby soon. Good luck

T., When I was first got pregnet i weight 129lbs and I am barly 5ft tall and through out most of my pregnetcy I had the same problum the pain under ribs and hibs and for me it was the my son was actully underneith my ribs and hibs becasue i was so short that he didnt have enough room. I know it hurts but just think of it has your little baby is growing good and is just moving around in there. Just becarfully my son was 6lbs 5 oz and 21 1/4 inches long and im very small he also had to big head and with me being so small he got stuck just and I had to have an emergency c-section......... But the pain feels better once you know that the precious baby is just moving around in there. I wish you the best of luck... GOD BLESS

Kids find the most interesting positions!!! Seeing you're a fairly small woman, it's probably just stretching and moving. when I was pregnant with my twins, once I hit 27 weeks, I was convinced I'd never breathe normally again, they were big girls, and they squshed everthing that was amply spaced in my torso up..... probably like what's happening to you. Make sure when you get a chance you stretch to keep yourself from getting stiff and take reassurance in the fact that in about 7 weeks you'll finally feel a little less cramped!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, who is now 3, I felt it from my ribs to my pelvic bone. Her head was in my pelvic area, and then her butt was in my left ribs, her feet in my right. I swear every time she moved, I thought my bones were going to split apart. Also another thing, when I was probably around 35 weeks, I ended up with a gas pocket, the pain went from where my rib cage comes together, up to the top of my chest bone, and all through the top of my back. It made it very difficult for my to breathe. So that could be a possibility... it's very common to get gas pockets during pregnancy. Good luck!! Hope you get better.

Hi T.!

Congratulations!!! Whether you are small or not, the baby is looking to stretch a little, and probably is kicking you. It is also possible that at 33 weeks, the baby has turned head down, so the legs are up near your ribs.

Good Luck, sounds like you are going to have a very happy Thanksgiving.

I know this feeling well!!! It's most likely your baby pushing up on your ribs. My son, when he was in my womb, loved to push me under my ribs. It was so painful at times! You're right, it does feel like a horse kicking. Just think it's only your baby kicking! :)

I have felt your pain! My daughter would get under my ribs so much I felt bruised toward the end of the pregnancy. I barely remember it now (she is 8mos old). You could try warm packs on the spot, or herbal neck packs warmed in the microwave work great! Also, I found gentle pressure on the spot helped her to shift a little and give it a rest! Good luck! I used to feel like my son was grabbing my ribs and using them as mokey bars! I totally understand! I don't know why there is pain. Could be a room issue, I guess. Your body could be stretching...

What you are experiencing is completely normal. Because you are so close to your due date now the baby may be turned down and be kicking you in the ribs. Believe me I know my daughter who is now 2 found the perfect spot but it just so happened that that spot was with her foot in my rib all the time. Just hang in there.

Good luck with everything

I felt the same rib pain when pregnant with my son. I was amazed when I found out later that what feels like your baby kicking you in the ribs is actually the stretching of the muscels in the side of your chest to support the weight of the stomach and actually has more to do with your body then the babies. Unfortunatly, there really is nothing you can do about it but grit and bare it.

J.

PS. I found this on a web site to explain it "Uterus is pushed hard against your lower ribs and your rib cage may be sore,"

Congrat's!!!!!!!!! the baby is just trying tomake room, by the sounds of it, if the pain get's worse or does not seem to improve talk to your doctor ( that's what their there for). My first daughter decided that my hips weren't big enough so she so nicely pushed them out, and my 2nd daughter decided that the best place to lay was on top of my pelvic bone, which made walking up any stairs ( and i mean from one step to several) a hole new meaning to pain. i felt like I fell off a boy's bike and landed on my pelvic bone ( oh yeah when she kicked I though she was gonna break it). Gotta love little one's. Again congrat's, and good luck

Hey. Well you might feel like you got kicked by a horse.. but its just the baby. you are close to your due date and the baby is running out of room. when the baby stretches its little legs or arms you will feel it. my first daughter enjoyed stretching her little feet into my rib cage so hard it hurt to breath. when it happens try to apply a little bit of pressure on your belly right under the rib cage... it normally gets them to readjust and pull those little legs out of your rib cage... good luck!!!

Most likely, just baby stretching and kicking. (S)he could be doing cartwheels and trying to move around inside or they just decided there is some room near your ribs. I know a few mother's whose babies hung out with an arm or leg almost constantly in their ribs. Mention it when you see the doctor next but as long as the baby is still moving, you are probably fine.

Hi there, I totaly sympathize with your discomfort. It could be that the baby is actually pressing on your diaphragm, which feels like pain in your ribs. Plus the baby is much stronger now, so it feels more like you're actually getting beat up. Hope you feel better today. K.
